Powerbook 5300 & 30GB Hard Drive Incompatible?
I have installed the Fujitsu MHT2030AT ( 30GB IDE - Ultra ATA/100 ATA-6 - 4200RPM ) on Powerbook 5300ce with 64MB RAM and it's non-Apple hard drive. I was checking the website that it should be working with Powerbook 5300's compatibilities. Is that correct and I was not sure if it is compatible with Fujitsu?... more »

How does one tell which "generation" of iPod has been purchased?
My son has a 15Gig iPod. I understand, from a MacAddict article from awhile back, that I should be able to replace the battery myself and I probably will give it a try. I'm not sure as to which "generation" this iPod is, as it bears a 2003 date on the back side but I think we bought it in 2004. This information is... more »

Apologies for OT, my news server doesn't carry the groups I wanted to use or is flaky this morning. If I get too many offers, it will go on ebay. It is a collectible Mac. The good: Booted when I tried it two weeks ago, now gets the ? floppy. Looks like the tube needs a degauss but it worked. Did not try the TV function. Some fool... more »

Switcher: iPod to move files from PC to Mac?
In article <1gugla5.mer2w6r5xif4N%tobeorn ot2bNOS...@hotmail.com>, ...PC's can not read Mac formatting without third party software alternatives. As of yet, you haven't convinced me that it has to be Mac formatted though. They don't get formatted by connecting to iTunes.

How to use iTunes with *both* an iPod mini and iPod 15Gig?
I just bought my son an iPod mini for his birthday; my other son has a 15G iPod (I'm not sure as to which "generation" this is, as it bears a 2003 date on the back side and I think we got it in 2004; if anyone can help, I'll need to replace the battery soon and may do it myself to save money, so I'd... more »

G3 sees 256 MB SDRAM DIMMs as 128 MB
We ordered 4 256MB SDRAM DIMMs for our G3. When we put them in, they were working fine. Our G4 was having problems. The 512 SDRAM DIMM in it was working in OS 9, but not in OS X. So I ordered a new 512 SDRAM DIMM and put in it, along with 2 of the 256MB DIMMs from the G3 and then put the old 512MB DIMM in the G3 with the other 2 256MB DIMMs, not knowing... more »

We have two Mac laptops connected via Airport to a Linksys WRT54GC router which in turn is connected via ethernet to a cable modem. The various connection settings are those that were automatically put in place, to put it bluntly, we just connected it and it works, well almost as nothing at all worked until we followed a friend's suggestion to turn off the cable modem... more »
