I am looking for a PCI card compatible with a PowerMac G5 (ie 3.3V cards)
that provides at least 4 extrenal USB 2 ports that run at USB 2.0 speeds
ideally with out the installation of an additional driver. Does anyone
have experience of such a card and can recommend a make & model? Thanks.

Why not just plug a powered USB 2.0 hub into your G5's existing USB 2.0
port?

Because hubs split the available bandwidth and require another cord

I've got a Belkin F5U220 that works quite well in my G5.

That was before Panther. OSX 3 has USB 2.0 drivers builtin.

Looked at the Belkin UK site and it states:

"Mac OS X (requires third-party drivers for USB 2.0 Speed)"

Have you installed extra drivers? If not, do you get USB 2.0 speed? Do

Thanks I'll take at look at that.

Yes, that's the reason I want a card. I want severel more USB 2.0 ports
with plenty of bandwidth on each. Plus it's tidying than having another
box sitteing around. Also I have had two USB hubs is past (USB 1.1
severel years ago but both [different makes] had pwer supplies fail. The
Belkin PCI card I got for my G4 worked faultlessly but unfortunatley was
not a 3.3V card so could not be moved to G5.

No. I'm running 10.3, which obviates that requirement.

Yes.

Yes.

That's old documentation. As of 10.2.8, USB 2.0 drivers should be
built-in for any EHCI-compliant chipset/card.
