I've got a Matshita/Panasonic CDR on an upgraded 8500 w/newertech G3 500
thats started to have problems burning recently, well quit burning just
after the 'lead in'. The driver is an old version of FWB's CD-ROM
Toolkit. Nothing has changed in the system that I know of. Using either
Jam or Toast to burn, it gave the usual 'Unknown driver' error but
burned successfull redbook cd's/cdrom's for about 3.5 years.

The thing reads fine, but has had clicking probs with redbook cd's
towards the outer rings of the cd. But otherwise reads CDROM's perfectly.

Other than the blowing out with an air can from the tray in or after the
case is off, what can anybody else recommend? Do these burners
eventually just wear out and stop burning?

TIA for any pointers,
