Both VGA and DVI output from Mac Mini?

I want to use the Mini to drive a plasma display (via VGA input) for watching
video content, and a smaller display (via DVI input) as the Mini's monitor.

Can these be used simultaneously? I would like to not have to switch cables
each time I want to watch movies.

There are "Y" cables that will allow this type of connection. My question is
whether or not both video signals are present simultaneously.

(And yes, I'm considering an Apple TV as a solution; I just want to know all
the possibilities before choosing.)
