Component video output from Mac Mini?

A plasma display (not a TV) has 5 RCA jacks labelled with 2 different labels:

O O O O O
- - - - -
Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr
R G B HD VD

I want to connect my Mac Intel Mini that has a Mini-DVI connector to this
display.

I've read that the Mini cannot output component video. True?

Is there an accessory converter that will convert the Mini-DVI to component
video?

Other solutions?

Or am I hosed?

Thanks,

FYI, I found this MacIntouch page with lots of people who have found
solutions:

True.

Yes. But so far they've been fairly expensive.

In all sincerity, if I was committed to hooking up a Mac to component
inputs, I'd probably just punt and get an Apple TV. Last time I looked,
which was admittedly a while ago, this wasn't substantially more
expensive than the converter box. Meanwhile it consumes less power (and
fewer power outlets) and space than the mini+converter solution.

This is an option I hadn't considered. A great possibility.

One of my concerns is one of playability of weird formats. I've relied on VLC
as a player for literally everything and hardly ever been disappointed. How
is ATV for playing, for example, .flv and .mkv formats?

The other concern is streaming content. Can I watch hulu.com content and
other (cbs.com) on Apple TV? How?

There is a way to install Boxee on an AppleTV which will give you
a lot of features not normally available with AppleTV, such as
other codex and hulu, plus other video sources.

I did a Google search for "installing boxee on appletv" and came
up with instructions for installing boxee.

What's the difference between buying AppleTV and connecting it to the plasma,
or getting a video transcoder and connecting that between the Mac Mini and
the plasma?

Besides the obvious stand-alone advantage (Mini doesn't have to be with in
cable distance of the plasma)...

Pros & cons?

It looks like a DVI to VGA adapter going into a VGA breakout cable
(probably 5 BNC connectors requiring BNC to RCA) would work. The R G B
HD VD appears to be a computer input. AFAIK the Mac DVI is both digital
and analogue so it should work.

I would have thought HD = Horizontal sync and VD =Vertical sync
to go with the RGB inputs. Some RGB sources have the sync on green,
while others send H and V sync as separate signals. There must be a
a switch to go between RGB and Component inputs.
