MBP / NAS /PC
|
| |
Hi, I have a MBP, a Qnap NAS and a WindowsXP-computer. I do backups from MBP > NAS and from WIN>NAS. But there seems to be some compatibility issues. I can't see all "MBP-files" from the Windows-computer and vice versa. I can see (and work with) MBP-files on the NAS from my MBP. I can see (and work with) WIN-files on the NAS from my Win-pc.... more »

Time Machine compatible with a NAS via AFP?
|
| |
I want to buy the WD 1TB NAS (WDH1NC10000N) for use with time machine over the network. Apple support says TM will work with any USB drive or a time capsule, and also a network share that supports AFP. If this model NAS supports the AFP, does that count?

Can I put a hard drive where a CD was?
|
| |
I have a USB external CD-RW by Iomega that the drive does not work anymore. Can I put an IDE hard drive in place of the CD? And if so do I set the hard drive to slave or master. It looks like the power and data pugs will fit in the hard drive.

When I try to move the contents of my smaller LaCie drive to the new Seagate, I get this message: "The item "LACIE 40GB" could not be moved because "FreeAgent drive" cannot be modified." WTF?... more »

Iomega home media network drive, date&time
|
| |
I have a 500GB Iomega home media network drive (with most recent firmware), used mostly for backing up a couple of Macs. I told the drive to synchronize date and time with my Mac (OSX 10.4.11). It seems to do that, except that it displays a time precisely 4 hours later than the Mac does. Since the Mac is on EDT, presumably the drive is... more »

Time Capsule power supply early death
|
| |
We've started to see a flock of problems (well, six to date) with Time Capsules bought in the Feb-May 2008 timeframe. They can be either the 1 TB or the 500 GB model (four 1 TB, two 500 GB so far) and in all cases they were working just fine until they suddenly, usually overnight, stopped dead. As in... more »
