Which SCSI card for old Powermac
|
| |
Hi, I've got a couple of fast SCSI drives (Seagate Cheetah) which I'd like
to use in my old Powermac I still have for running classic programmes. I assume it is possible to obtain higher data transfer rates by
connecting the HD via a aftermarket PCI SCI adapter - any suggestions to
which adapter to look for for my old 9600? I tried an Adaptec... more »

Oddity - Two Instances of Safari.app running together
|
| |
Frequently I'll have two instances of Safari.app in my dock and two instances in my Recent Items list. I have checked and I have only a single copy of Safari.app in my Applicatioins folder. My understanding is that one should only have one instance of Safari.app running, or am I mistaken?... more »

repairing flash memory drive which doesnt boot
|
| |
I have a 2 gig flash memory drive on which I installed and used Disk Warrior. It runs in an hour or two instead of the usual few days of chugging along when running from the CD. I have lost both CD/DVDs I bought and was trying to press this back into service after a year or so of non-use.
The drive no longer boots. And on insertion into a running system, the drive gives an automatic message (before even trying anything) telling me that the drive needs repairing and that DU cannot do it. It however appears on the desktop and opens and I can get to all the files on it (I think).... more »

Securedly erase memory cards?
|
| |
Hello.
Will DBan work on these (e.g., very old SD mini and micro types from 16 MB to 2 GB sizes), or do I need to use a special memory card software for them?
Thank you in advance. :)

Hard drive replacements in 2011 iMacs
|
| |
So the 2011 iMacs apparently have this issue where the internal drive has to have Apple-specific firmware. Or at least that was the case as of May 2011 when they came out. It has to do with temperature sensing and managing the cooling fans.
I've googled and looked up and down the various forums and haven't seen... more »

Fixed a "dead" slot optical drive
|
| |
The slot Superdrive in my 2006 Mac Mini had been used sparingly: maybe 80 playing of DVDs and probably half that burning discs in the 6 years since it was born.
In the past year, errors started to pop up, then recently it wouldn't mount a disc. I tried different brands of discs -- no joy.... more »

Advice requested for SSD
|
| |
I want to replace the Boot Disk of my Mac Pro 3.1 by an about 128 GB 2"5 SSD. . My choice narrrows to Mercury Electra ( from OWC which provides also yhe adaptor sledge) or to the ubiquitous Crucial M4 SATA III ( but ,may be, there's a better choice). That's why I'll be thankful for the opinion of the experienced members, as this is my first plunge... more »

input/output error on restore
|
| |
I was trying to clone my Time Machine backup onto a new external drive.
Best advice seemed to be to use Disk Utility's Restore command.
But after going a fair way through the process, I got the message
"Cannot restore. Input/output error".
Presumably this means a problem on either the drive that has been used... more »
