RDX Drives & Cartridges
|
| |
I'm looking at my options for archiving what will eventually become 200+ GB of data.
Right now I use an external USB hard drive.
I checked out the Iomega RV and the Tandberg/HP whatever RDX drives. Since Iomega seems to have an issue with reliability the RDX seems like the better choice.
However, those cartridges seem to be merely a 2.5" laptop hard drive... more »

Is it safe to use those mini-sized discs in a MacBook Pro from 2008?
|
| |
Hello.
Is it safe to use those mini-sized discs (not a regular size) in a 15" MacBook Pro's disc drive slot from 2008? I know they work fine in the old fashion tray drive, but what about those slot ones that suck in to insert and eject out?
Thank you in advance. :)

HD Tach replacements for Vista, W7, Linux, and Mac OS X?
|
| |
Hello.
Are there other benchmark disk softwares, with graphs, that will work in the other OSes beside Windows 2000 SP4 and XP (the latest HD Tach doesn't support them when I tried to run it on an updated 64-bit W7 HPE machine yesterday)?
Thank you in advance. :)

Drobo question
|
| |
I just ordered a Drobo (4 bays, usb+FW800) and will need to get some disk drives for them. I would like to poll the readers of this group to see whether you're using "green" drives or "performance" drives in your Drobo and if you've tried both, which you would recommend. Right now I'm using some old 500gb non-green drives to try to see how the system... more »

DiskWarrior and other good disk utilities under Mac OS X 10.5.8?
|
| |
Hello all.
What are good disk utilities to use under Mac OS X for problematic HDDs? It seems like Mac OS X's provided Disk Utilities are limited with surface scan, SMART stuff, etc. I was told DiskWarrior is very good. Is that true?
Thank you in advance. :)

First of all what I just ordered is a Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EARS 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive from [link] . I thought I'd shop around for an enclosure for it. I'm looking for a firewire interface. I'm thinking firewire's bidirectional nature is... more »
