Hi,

I want to create some surround mix using Logic and Soundtrack. I'll be
buying some 5.1 sound system (Logitech Z-5500).
While I'm aware it's not the best system for mixing, that's the best
thing my money can buy.

What sound interface would you recommend knowing that
1. I'm using a iMac, and therefore can only use USB or Firewire
interfaces
2. the inputs on the Z-5500 are 3 stereo mini-connectors

Thanks
Jonathan

Assuming it is a reasonably recent iMac then it will have digital
optical output from the audio out jack (check MacTracker for your Mac's
spec), this can go into most surround sound systems to give you 5.1 output.
Failing that, most PC USB audio dongles work on the Mac, see if you can
get a budget one on sale or return to try, it will probably work without
needing any drivers.
Ben.
