I need some help with the level Feel the Power in pathways. Is there a good
strategy in defeating the Oozes? As soon as I enter the level there are too
many around me to kill them all. I have been following the FAQ and Wrong Way
and Welcome, Tasty Primate first. I have they Walter with lots of ammo and
the Orange crystal. Have I missed some weaponry somewhere, or should be able
to finish the level with what I have? The walter does not seem very effective.
Pleases e-mail any help.

Thanks in advance.

It's not very effective, but the level is winnable with just what you
have. The initial ambush is the hardest to deal with: get off the
level as soon as you can, since the best item in the game is on the
level below. Come back for the rest of the Oozes when you have better
weapons. One hint: Oozes are attracted to you by something. (Note
they see you long before you can see them.) Figuring out how to get
rid of this attraction will make the level _much_ easier

Possible spolier

Oozes are attracted to light: turn off your flashlight.

To get as far as you have, you must have passed through the level
"We Can See In The Dark, Can You?". This level should have taught
you two things:

1) You CAN see in the dark, and
2) Monsters can see your light.

(It actually goes beyond that. If you experiment with the Infrared
Goggles (which you don't have yet but will find later) you will find
out that the monsters can even sense how far you can see with them,
even though (presumably) they don't give off any light. I assume
this is because the monsters, being merely physical manifestations
of the sleeping god's dreams, are inherently mental and can read
your mind. Or, of course, it could just be that the IR goggles have
an attached IR flashlight that the monsters can see.)

Either way, the better your vision, the more aggressive the monsters
become. Most monsters will not attack until you LOOK at or near them.
A monster will come around a corner at you, but only if you see the
corner.

You can turn this to your own advantage. Before going into a
situation where the monsters are thick and heavy, you can "thin them
out" a little by reducing your vision so that only the nearby
monsters attack. This technique makes "Feel the Power" absurdly
easy. Turn off your flashlight, go down the ladder, and be very
careful not to look down the passage on your right until you have
killed the three Oozes that come at you from the left.

The technique works on other levels, too. I know you've already
done "Wrong Way!", but if you ever get the urge to do the game
again, you will find it is possible to clear out that first room
with only a knife. There are three Ghouls in each corner of the
room, so normally you are being attacked from all four directions
at once and you only triumph because Ghouls are such patsies.
But with your flashlight off, and being very careful to stay in
AND FACE TOWARDS only one corner at a time, you will only have to
fight three at a time. By careful positioning, you can get one
of them to act as a shield to block the others while you kill the
shield.

Sorry, I don't do that. If you don't care enough to look for the
answer, don't ask. If you aren't reading this conference regularly,
then you aren't helping others with their questions.
