Notice the open stack is just grey bars. The icons and names are not
showing.

Anyone else encountered this? Quitting and relaunching the Finder and/or
Dock doesn't solve this. Only a restart.

TIA,

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

I haven't seen that. I just noticed that my Dock doesn't auto-hide
after clicking on two or more Stacks in a row. I hope Stacks are gone
in 10.5.2.

What I found on my machine 10.5.1, is that iTunes is corrupting Finder
icons. In particular, it is the 'Now Playing' window that can be used
to display cover art and video on the lower left side of the iTunes
window. When I stopped using that feature, the icon corruption stopped.

I have no idea why.

I've seen something similar: if I'm playing StarCraft in 10.5.1, Little
Snitch can sometimes open up in the background to notify it has
automatically blocked a connection for something (it uses Speech to tell
you what it is doing, which is quite a cute feature, but it surprised me
the first time it happened - it does this when the active application is
running in full screen mode).

When I quit the game, Little Snitch's window (brushed metal area at the
top) has a stripey effect. I'm certain this is caused by the fact that
StarCraft (and similar older games) are operating in 8-bit colour mode.
If Little Snitch's window opens while the display is in this mode, it is
also stuck in a weird 8-bit mode and the "brushed metal" effect doesn't
work properly, producing distortion and stripes.

I'm not sure exactly what I have to do to fix it. I've usually just quit
and relaunched it (which is OK), but it might be sufficent to close and
reopen the window or hide and show it.

The effect might vary depending on the video card. My test case is a
MacBook Pro (Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT).

I haven't noticed any problems with the Dock.
