Not sure, but I seem to recall it's been this way for quite some time.
Personally, I'd rather not have the additional sub-folder for iWork. I'm
not sure Software Update would provide updates if I were to move them to
the top level of the Applications folder. And since I use LaunchBar to
launch applications, it doesn't matter much anyway.
BTW, you've posted this to ELEVEN news groups. I seem to recall this
isn't the first time this has happened to someone using Unison recently.
Is Unison really that problematic when it comes to target news groups?

I'm mildy curious too.
I'll note that it mimics the behavior of MS Office on macs - that too
installs as one folder with the separate applications contained in
that folder.
