Why not just create a playlist for it?

Sorry,I'm not clear about your comment. Are saying that I can create a
playlist and access CBC radio from that -- not using the internet radio
app at all -- or that this is a way of adding stations to the internet
radio app? If the app is closed, than I will go your idea, but that
would mean setting up another system. Thanks for any other ideas.

Why not just go to the CBC web site where you can connect to numerous
CBC streams? The web site can be found at: <http://www.cbc.ca/radio/>

At first glance, I didn't find the page where you download the PLS
files, so I'm unable to verify this, But I think if you download the PLS
file, and add it to an iTunes playlist, you should be able to play that
playlist.

NOTE: We have recently switched the Vancouver live streams to an mp3

You can play them via QuickTime Player's "Open URL" command ("File"

Am I the only one who doesn't know what the "iTunes internet radio app"
is?

I didn't know either, here's a link :

Oh, I've known all about listening to streaming radio through iTunes
since it first became available. It sounded as though he was referring
to a separate program, though.

Looks like there will be one :
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10374854-37.html
But I didn't find one that exists right now.
That's so obviously not the same thing. ; ) That's an iPhone app.
Henry, the OP, is talking about iTunes, the Mac app, I believe.
Heck, why would anyone want to listen to CBC in the first place. Just a tax
grab to be honest...

I guess he must be, but it's kind of odd making up a name like that.

So the OP shouldn't want to listen to it because _you_ don't?

That's not at all what I said. I just don't like/listen/watch anything on
the CBC because it's a tax grab. If the OP wants to listen to it why not buy
a freaking radio/TV?

Why shouldn't he listen to it on the internet? If it's something he
wants to do, why shouldn't he?
Because it's the only thing on the dial without irritating commercials.
That alone is good enough for me.

Again, I didn't say he shouldn't listen to it but if he's having trouble
getting it online then use a radio. And if he's really having trouble call
the freaking CBC for help as I'm sure they'd be more than happy to talk to
someone who listens to them...

Didn't know that they didn't have commercials as I don't listen to it.

You sure seem to be bothered by it, though.

He's not having trouble getting it online. It's working via the web
site, he wants to do it through iTunes.

He has some Mac technical questions which just happen to involve a CBC
broadcast. They could just as easily involve some other broadcast having
nothing to do with the CBC. His post was on-topic for the groups he
chose to post to.
At least it's a good use of taxpayer dollars, as compared to many other
possible alternatives (insert your own boondoggle here).
I listen to The National almost everyday on my computer. (Since I live
in the US, I can't get it over the air.) Let me tell you, ALL of the CBC
content beats the hell out of:
- Amerifascist Bombastic Claptrap,
- Commercial Balderdash & Sludge,
- Nothing But Crap
- Crappy Non-News,
- Mostly Swill-Nothing But Crap, and of course,
- Fox Lies
You can watch the latest National here:

I particularily recommend it to Americans if they have any interest in
how the US is viewed in other countries. The CBC interviews and reports
from overseas really tell an honest account of what the rest of the
human race thinks of US imperialism and war crimes.
For Fox, I offer Fairly Obnoxious Xenophobia.

You misspelled "Go out of their way to find the loonies that agree
with their own views no matter how out of touch with reality they are."
Not so much different than the media on this side of the line now that
you mention it.

Really? CBC TV has two programs which I watch daily. Coronation Street
(British) and the Simpsons (American). Nice way of promoting Canadian ideals
eh?

Never listen to it but I suppose I'll give it a go after this thread but if I
can't get it on my Mac I'll have to use my radio ;-)

Fascist Oligarchs' eXcrement, as well.

The Vinyl Cafe is still pretty good. Everything else has devolved into
phone-in shows. CBC tv sucks big time, all crippled single-mother gay
mohawks north of 60 on the rez boffing ol' Anne of the New Gables with
Winston Reckert's hair.

No, no! That's FOE.
Just kidding, of course, or maybe pulling your chain. Or is this a Freudian
way of expressing an opinion?
Or maybe I'm just wasting bandwidth :-)
All on Radio One.

Radio Two *used* to be worth supporting, until the grand format change.
Now it just completely sucks.

I watch the weekly National At Issue panel and Rex Murphy - via podcast
download. Other than setting up the rabbit ears for election night
coverage, I haven't watched live CBC TV (or any TV for that matter)
since the mid 1990s.
