When I right click on an mp3 link and release at the "Download Linked
File as....," the dialog window goes off the bottom of the display so
that the cancel and download buttons are not visable. Fortuantely the
download button is the default, so I can just hit return, but I can't
cancel easily, and besides, this is ugly for a Mac. Is there anything I
can do?
TIA

What's happened is you've resized the save panel to be larger than the
screen. Possibly you had it plugged into an external monitor at some
point?
First step is to quit Safari.
Next, if you don't mind losing all your Safari preferences (but not your
bookmarks), you can just delete com.apple.Safari from your
Library/Preferences inside your user account. If you're feeling more
adventurous, you can open that same file in Property List Editor and
delete NSNavPanelExpandedSizeForSaveMode from it.

Is it affected by where your mouse is when you are context menu calling?
In other words, see what happens when you organise the link to appear
higher up on your screen before mousing on it.
Have you got your monitor panel set correctly for the native pixel
dimensions of the screen?

Yes you can, just hit Escape.
Command-Dot usually cancels, too.

No, I keep it as high on the display as possible.

Yes.

OK, and this does not happen in any other browser, just Safari 4.0.4?

The only other browser I ever use is Firefox, and the dialogue box for
this process in Firefox is much, much smaller than Safari and I don't
have the problem.

Sort of. Mt last Mac was a mini, but I sold it when I started to travel
and got a MacBook. I, of course, had the mini plugged into an external
monitor, a big sucker, 24". I got my stuff on the MacBook by retoring
time machine onto it form an external HD. That was in 10.5. Since then
I have moved up to 10.6. So this restoration to a laptop, could have
caused the problem - probably did.

I went into my user account > library>preferences but that preference
folder was totally empty. Looked inside Library>safari but none of the
files resembled apple.com. Safari. What does this indicate?
