Get shrinkwrap,..drop all of the images on them and it should create disk
copies on your desktop. I did it yesterday,..but can't quite remember what
exactly I did in shrinkwrap. In other words,.no external disks required.

You can install directly from your hard drive, just get yourself a copy of
ShrinkWrap, available from your favorite Umich or Info-Mac site.

Now that I have the 14 images for system 7.5.3 updater on my hard drive,
do I have to use 14 diskettes, or can I install directly from my hard

Thanks.

I copied all of them to my EZ Drive, mounted all 14 images on the desktop
using ShrinkWrap, double-clicked the installer on Disk #1, and waited
about ten minutes.

End of story. That translucent drag is pretty cool.

If you can install from AOL (keyword: applecomputer), you can choose NET
INSTALL and download it as one unit....it takes 3 hours, but works great.

Why bother using ANY floppies? You could have done the same using
ShrinkWrap or DropDisk to mount the image files. You could even mount all
of the images (assuming you have enough RAM or disk space) and install
directly from them.

In fact I installed it by mounting all of the images with ShrinkWrap and I
never created a single floppy.

Get a copy of the NetInstall folder (17 Mb). Installs directly from your
hard drive.

Get ShrinkWrap; decode the update files; drop the *.image files on top of
the ShrinkWrap icon--the 14 disks are now mounted on the desktop all at
once. Now, double click on the installer in disk 1 and watch the whole
update installation finish while you finish a cup of coffee. No external
floppy needed.

But you can do this using ShrinkWrap and *no* floppies... :P

If you have a 16meg machine, boot with "just 7.5.1", as reccomended, then load all the floppies into memory with shrinkwrap, you end up with about 30K free, and thus can't load the installer!!!

so i made the net install version from the floppies instead.

overall verdict: definitely snappier, and the files on what all those extensions are was great!

Get Shrinkwrap from any Info-Mac site. It lets you install just about any
software from its disk images. I keep a backup install set of all my
applications on a Zip disk, so i can always reinstall anything without
using the floppies.
