Yes, well unfortunately they've been discontinued. However, Microsoft has
jumped into the breach and will begin selling podcasts on 8-track tapes by
mail order for only $2.99 a pop..
Have you ever used Finder's Get Info panel to change permissions on a
system-created folder, and then pressed the "Apply to enclosed items"
button? If so, is/was your iTunes library in that folder or in any of
its subfolders?

That can be very dangerous at least in Leopard, where doing so would
often result in a whole host of permissions applied that are totally
different from what you set. I completely FUBARed my Applications folder
after doing the above on an Applecare tech's instructions. Can't say I
was very impressed. Still, that was back in 2008. I hope things are
better now, but I'll never risk it again on critical folders and files.
