Nice. But if that one doesn't fly, the Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc. is sure to.
They will be REAL computer tablets not toy etch-a-sketch wannabees..

LOL. Apple will sell more iPads than all of those me-too offerings
combined.

The Windows/Linux/Android challenge that you are failing to understand
is that Apple's competition is fractured while Apple is offering a
unified, known target for ISVs to optimize and sell into.

Apple was the only game in town last year and is doing gangbusters now.

The fly in the ointment is they won't be me-too. They will be real
computers.

I think the general public will see them as "real". With "real" usb ports.
"Real" sd card readers. A real" CPU, and best of all, a "real" OS.

The 'general public' doesn't now, nor will in the future, give a shit if
it is a 'real computer' by your definition.

This general public? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4MwTvtyrUQ

Good luck with that. I'm sure those people are really going to care
about specs they don't even understand.

You guys are so far out of touch with mainstream users it's not even
funny.

You keep telling everyone why it isn't a 'real computer' when in

think are so important.

And while I think those things are very important in a laptop or
desktop, they are of little interest in handheld devices. Here it is
how simple is it to operate, can I do it with minimal learning curve,
does it look good? Those are all questions the iPad answers quite well
and the desktop/laptop/netbok doesn't.

There are far more people that don't care about computers, don't want to
learn about them, don't hook crap up to them and so forth, than all the
geeks in the world.

eyes for this task, but some will find it of value.

BTW, the software does in fact run on both Windows and OSX.

In a world where some silly number of Americans spend $90+ per month on
cable TV -- probably most of them even when they're unemployed -- I'm
not sure I agree. Or, rather, yes, there are probably a bunch of people
who shouldn't spend the extra money, but that won't stop them.
