The new translucent menu bar at the top is really poorly thought out. The problem is that it limits one from using ssome desktops like those blue in color. If one selects a blue background the bar also turns a light blue and just looks ugly. Apple should have included an option for the classic in preferences.

Boy, I totally didn't see this one coming. ;-)
No wonder they dumped the tradition of a new blue wallpaper with each release! (Oh, and because Vista's using photos now.)

I am sure there is probably some terminal commands that can be used to bring back the old bar but why not have put a simple entry in Preferences.

well, you can't do that because of the UI rule of "consistency". but plenty of 3rd parties will allow you to do it within a few weeks. just hang tight.

I'm sorry but you know the rules! Questions Jobs or Apple is heresy! You are out of the Church of Jobs. Everything Apple is the BESTEST EVER!!!! You will BURN in hell for this transgression MR!!!!

Have not seen it in person, but from screen shots it seems to add *nothing* of value but does add problems.

Apple is clearly trying to play with their UI in Leopard... and they blew it in some ways. Hopefully it gets fixed in 10.5.x.

For some backgrounds such as the default it looks nice. Overall I am still happy with Leopard and am VERY glad I upgraded.

Oh, I still plan on upgrading. It, like any big update, will have some warts where either Apple will post a fix or I will find a work-around or change my computing habits if needed. This is true if any major tool change - a couple years ago I went from a 15 year old car to a (then) new one. Same type car, but with changes - of course. Most for the better - a few not.

WTF, Oxtard? Apple can do whatever the hell it wants. They could allow you to make the menu bar opaque if they wanted, just like you can change Aqua to graphite and change the minimize animation.
