I paid $150 over KBB for my A4 5speed wagon.
depends on how common the car you are looking for
and how desperate the buyer is.
If it's rare configuration you can get a bit over kbb as was in my case
(the window of opportunistic import tariffs was closing shut in 3 month
from the time I started shopping)
By the same token I'd guess the prev gen of jeep liberty would hold value pretty well now that the front wheel drive based abominations are rolling
off the chrysler assembly lines. Not that jeeps depreciated fast to begin
with.
Same for the outgoing mac pro. Should hold value well.
It's always fun to watch for the savvy set of people who watch for
regressions no matter what the industry is and snatching the last minute
deals. good QA department material. Apple should get some of those :^)
I could think of zillions of transitions for worse
oneida boston clasic sets -> went from 18/8 to 18/0 steels and butt ugly
knife design. I bet there was an industry watcher snatching the last of the kind :)
Mazda introducing mazda3 and briefly selling protege5 wagon for a year or so.
Someone snatched one or two.
Subaru ditching limited slip LSD on the rear axle, the list goes on an on and on.
Bottom line is, don't buy shit and take care of your belongings ->
you won't be hurt with depreciation that
much when you sell any of them. If you don't buy shit in the first place
you might just as well won't be forced to sell anything, but
the amount of folks who are blessed with both brains AND money is in short supply. And those are that sell the car in excellent condition
for $150 or so over kbb top category (excellent condition that is)
