My friend just got one. She had the razr phone before hand and
doesn't know how to get all of her information from that phone to the
iphone, i.e., phone numbers and pictures. Does anyone know?
Apparently the iphone doesn't use a sim card.

Thanks

Yes, the iPhone uses a standard SIM card. You
stick a paper clip in the top and the SIM card
drawer pops out.

I had a Motorola RAZR, which I sync'd to my Macs
via Bluetooth, so everything in my Address Book
was the same as was in my phone. She should try
and sync her telephone with her Mac (address book)
if she has a Mac with Bluetooth.

Then when iTunes syncs up the Address Book with
iPhone it will be there.

BTW, although a SIM card can store names and phone
numbers it is usually so much more limited than
the phone's internal memory capabilities (i.e.
storing multiple numbers for a single entry) I
have never stored my numbers in them.

The iphone has a SIM card but you still can't directly transfer contacts
from a Motorola to it. If she was using Motorola Phonetools with her PC
and Outlook 2003 or earlier(if she has one) she should be able to just sync
the phone using the PC version of iTunes 7.3 with Outlook.

If she is using a Mac there really is no available mechanism to do it except
by hand entering the contacts in address book. I am sure someone will
eventually come up with software to accomplish such a task but so far there
is nothing.

The problem is so many of us had Verizon with our Razors and Bluetooth file
sync is disabled on the phone.

Yes it does use a SIM card. It fits in a covered slot on the top edge of the
phone.

Oh, that is terrible. :( I had T-Mobile with
mine, but got the RAZR unlocked (paid too much for
it about 3 years ago).

Just use iSync, as was said earlier.

Actually, the one time I tried, iSync worked perfectly with my Verizon
Razr V3c phone. This was through Bluetooth.

Sorry Dave but Verizon unless it just changed within the last few months has
had the OBEX Bluetooth profile disabled on all of its Bluetooth phones.

BitPim plus a data cable, moron. And make sure BitPim supports your
phone before you run out and get that cable.

because they want you to buy ringtones, images, etc through their online
store. they also want you to get your pictures off the camera by sending it
to yourself via email (at 25 cents a pop).

regardin he verizon razr synching through bluetooth, that was one early
batch of razr's that apparently slipped through the cracks; subsequent
phones had the file transfer profile deleted, and if you brought in your
phone for a software 'upgrade', the profile was disabled.

God that sucks. That would never fly here in Sweden.

I know that, John. And, I was unhappy when I found that I was unable to

I thought I had that upgrade done on my V3c. Unfortunately, while I can
still sync contacts and calendars, I still can't download pictures from
my phone to my computer.
