Gateway NH57 laptop was used for a month or so
with USB wireless mouse when on a tabletop
with built-in ELAN touchpad when on the knee
both working OK. Suddenly the touchpad no longer works
although Device Mgr says it is OK (and whether USB mouse
enabled or disabled.)
Advice?

Some laptops have a button to disable the touchpad.
Accidentally hit that and it stops working.
