The specific errors that you mention are listed below but be
aware that you get 16x errors when a low battery means the system
cannot correctly retain its installed configuration details.
161 System Options Not Set-(Run SETUP); Dead battery
162 System Options Not Set-(Run SETUP);
CMOS checksum/configuration error
163 Time & Date Not Set-(Run SETUP); Clock not updating
301 Keyboard did not respond to software reset or a stuck key
failure was detected. If a stuck key was detected, the scan
code for the key is displayed in hexadecimal. For example,
the error code 49 indicates that key 73, the PgUp key, has
failed (49 hex = 73 dec). Scan codes are listed in file TABLE
in ftp.pc.ibm.com/pub/dos_util/1029ref.arc
2401 Video Graphics Array (VGA) errors - possibly monitor cable
If you replace the battery you will need a reference diskette to
reset the installed system configuration:
Download, in binary mode, two files from ftp.pc.ibm.com:
/pub/os2_ews/loaddf.zip Diskette image prg LOADDSKF & SAVEDSKF
/pub/refdisks/rf7080a.dsk PS/2 Model 8570/8580 Reference Disk
version 1.12
Unzip loaddf.zip and read the instructions which tell you how to
create a bootable Reference Diskette using loaddskf.exe and
rf7080a.dsk.

A lot of useful information is in The latest version
of the PS2FAQ.TXT document which is available at
ftp.demon.co.uk/pub/doc/ibmpc/ps2faq30.zip
or US readers can find it at ftp.inetdirect.net/pub/ps2
