Found this in a box of things set aside - I remember buying it off
eBay many moons ago but not using it not even sure why I got it or
what for but it's no longer needed and I bet someone here knows what
it is and has a use for it.

Gray plastic box with a RJ45 on one side, 15 d-sub with posts for the
locking bar on the other. Has LEDs on front for link, receive,
transmit and power. Small switch on side for SQE test (heartbeat).

No input for power but rear tag says 12vdc so I imagine power comes
from the 15 pin side connection.

How's $5 Paypal'd to me for the unit and mailing (in the US) sound?
Let me know soon if someone is interested before I decide to put it on
ePay or rathole it in another box where it will lay another 5 yrs or
so.

Hi Russ.......

I have one clipped to the back of my N40 and it ethernets me to the
internet just fine. Well-made little device.

N40 laptop? Does it have the lockbar and 15 pin female Dsub on it? I
know I've seen network cards with the lock bar on back where you puch
the connectors together then snap the bar over the pins but it's been
eons since I've seen one (well I'll likely find a NIC in my stash once
I go through the remaining boxes) but I know with only the 8595-OPT
left in my PS/2 stuff besides a 5150 PC, 5160 XT and 5170 AT (and a
C64 and C128D) I doubt I'll ever have a use for it.

I just looked up the ports on the N40 and I see the AUI port - now I
remember what I bought it for seeing the 3 squares inside GT/LT
brackets - an older Mac I had to put ethernet on it. Now I know I wont
use it, the Mac is long gone parted out after the power supply went
poof and other than an iMac tray loader I have no Apple/mac either. So
it goes to a new owner for $5 or I toss it on the box I guess.

I should have figured that you'd dig up more interesting stuff after I left!

I've still got about half a truck bed of PS/2 Model 80s. When it's warmer,
we'll see what they do. Most of the others are now happy (but still cold,
the Roach Palace is only minimally heated). Always wondered what I'd do with
all those 6V batteries...

As it is, they're great for weight. Having something back there makes a huge
difference. Anyway, if nobody else bites on that transceiver...I'm
interested.

I got digging and found a NIC with AUI on it for ISA last night -
might end up coupling the transciver onto it and see if I can't get
network on the 5150, 5160 or one of the 3 5170 ATs this spring.

I told you I had some boxes of loose stuff up front in the trailer
that I still needed to go through, a couple 10 ream paper boxes with
memory stripped from older IBM and clone machines as well and if I
find the motherlode later you'd be first on the wish list to get some.
The transciever was on my bench in the basement in a box of "future
projects" items but have had no time to mess with anything. I was
trying to reconcile some things down there (you saw the pile of stuff
making it unusable for a bench) to sort things into keep and get rid
of boxes but that got halted when 6 laptops came in at once and 5
printers the next morning.

In years past when I was collecting those PS/2's up so they didnt get
tossed I had many times I had the old C20 crew cab's 8 ft bed full of
machines waiting for me to get time to organize them into the others.
At least those heavy 60/65/80 units make for good ballast over the
rear wheels with snow up your way. It's still green (but cold down to
25 at night) down here but webcam of my sister-in-law's up in Nebraska
sure makes me glad to be where I am.

Oh yeah I forgot you were out that way too - looked at the cam tonight
and more snow with like -9 without the wind... and I thought 18 here
after the sun went down was bad. We've had one snow and it was a
dusting 2 wks before Xmas. Other than frost nothing and the grass is
still green.
