Jelte,
Admirer of the letter of IBM with blue Ishiki
I'm seeing double-posts from you, any idea why?
Which part of "currently setting up" didn't you understand? :-)
For WebCam access you'll need to e-mail me with a suggested userid and
password.
N.B. max. of 4 concurrent users.
Manage to see the main menu.
Didn't like Firefox and requires user / password ... :-)

Try to keep up. :-) E-mail me with your suggested userid and password and
I'll set one up for you.

WebCam userids and pw.s now set up. Guess who's is which:
Fortress of?
Who's GF did I meet, briefly?
The Blue what? (sig)
What system of mine do you lust after?
Superwho?
I'm driving harder and displaying a later flavoured package?
All pw.s comprise lower-case letters and numbers, no special characters. No
last names, no pack drill.

But now I am and it's looking good!
Not much happening, though.
Expected some beer ad somewhere ;-))
Anyhow, it works. *And* with sound if I'm not mistaken.
Pity it works only in IE. It says so itself:
"MPEG-4 Video is only available with Microsoft Internet Explorer.
For Netscape users, please use the Linksys Viewer & Recorder Utility."
See if I can find said Viewer.
. . . .
I just did: see the Help in the Linksys-screen.
No I didn't. They provide a link to download it from Linksys.
Problem is finding the thing on their site.
Haven't succeeded yet.

There's a link to install the OCX for Windows with IE in the Help panels as
well. I have the CD-ROM somewhere and could put it on the CD-ROM Server
later.

So, you've got your id and pw OK, then?
Must be an automatic response.
Just checked.
You're not on camera.

Always in for a wordgame.
First try and I was in.
Browsed the PS/2 CD as well; interesting content.
I bet you sit there giggling :-)
Get a message: "Error on the page" and no picture on the webcam.

That's just an old copy, ask Peter to send you an up-to-date copy.

I used to do the Sunday Telegraph crossword puzzles with my best mate, in
the dim and distant past of our mis-spent youths.

Sorry, I'm no expert on browsers, would the OCX work if I sent it to you to
install manually? Or would you need the application CD mounting?
> Someone's been peeking!!! :-)
I'll admit I *did* look to see if you had a web server running on port 80,
but that's not my public IP.
(...and the only reason I did so was because I remembered a certain PS/2 and
PC server compendium, as well as a small web site that you'd put up with the
word "monetaim" in it...)
I think I found an entry in your list of passwords that might roughly
correspond to something I've been after (the 9585K/N) but I don't know what
to do about a username. wct <atsign> walshcomptech <dot> com is my real
e-mail address.
William
Ahh! But userids in my world are usually less than or equal to 8 characters,
what do I call you?
> Ahh! But userids in my world are usually less than or equal to 8

Rather than trying to think up some undoubtedly clever and witty eight
character designation (!!!), I think that just "william" or "wct" would be
fine usernames--no preference to either on this end.
If that works, I guess I shall see if the password is what I think it is...!
(What's the webcam looking at, anyhow?)

Never mind, I wasn't trying to wind anyone up, really. Just being cryptic to
keep casual non-NG members from using up the 4 user limit. william it is.

Late last night and until this AM, I'd repositioned it to look towards the
PC Server 520 S/390, where I worked on the WebSphere Application Server and
CICS Web Access stuff for a while muttering to myself to amuse the audience,
if there was one. It's pointing back where it was before, at my 8595 and
RS/6000 workstation area (see the 3153 with the keyboard proppoed against
it?). The 8595 has the PODP'ed P66 Type complex in it and a lot of multi-CD
drives stacked on top and internally.

If it is the "Millenium Edition" it hasn't changed much over the years.
There's the stuff I collected over the years and the "updates" are some
PDF changes (removing erratas) as they are on my page. There is also a
local copy of the MCA page as well including the mild updates done.
No, it's the 2nd copy that you sent me after I'd given you a little feedback
about relative addressing and other minor issues. I believe you sent me 3 in
all, 2 in 1999 and, presumably, the Millennium Edition. Not a problem for
me, of course, and I'm sorry if I unwittingly caused you more work than
you'd like. :-/

Not much of a problem anyway. I'm just a bit lazy :-)
There are so many things waiting. At least I got my old Sanyo
videorecorder back to life. (Minus the frontside VFD, which still cause
trouble). One of the bigger caps in the PSU died and ran out.
The usual problem with machines being permanently powered unless you
physically disconnect them from mains.

I'll have to remember that one. Give my best to your ladyfriend.

I've been trying to download said files, but anything larger than, say,
150KB ends in an eternal wait with approximately 106KB received.
Trying to pause the DL and restarting it ends in : "--file-- could not be
saved, because the source file could not be read."
Any idea what the reason could be?

It might be because I've "pushed" a lot of data to Kevin's FTP site and done
other stuff and my ISP's limiting it. But I'm not certain of that,
especially at 106KB, unless there's other stuff been going on concurrently.
I've had no automated alert e-mails from the CD-ROM server so I doubt it's a
read error. That CD's cached to HD anyway. Try again later at night, when
things have quietened down and capacity isn't being soaked up by trivial
"broadcast" stuff and the like, and then report again. Meanwhile I'll have a
look at the Wireless gateway's logs to see if I can glean any more
significant info. from that.
You could also get the latest stuff from www.linksysonlinebycisco.com under
support.

Cheers,
Uh, that's a broken link. Perhaps you mean http://www.linksysbycisco.com?

Well, I tried all sorts of things, even ftp, but to no avail.
So then I tried LinksysbyCisco-site, as the viewer should be available
there.
Ok, they are true to their word: it's available.
They never said *easily* available . . . :(
<the next bit could be construed as a rant>
Clicked the abovementioned link and am automagically redirected to the Dutch
site. OK with me.
Support; WVC54G; 'get downloads'; select version (I hate it when they offer
a "selection" of one);
Firmware only.
OK, let's do the site-search: "Viewer & Recorder Utility"; 3 hits, WVC54G
Support being one of them; hopeful!
Selected the link; went back to the WVC54G-page; 'get downloads'; been
there, done that . . .
Changed country to UK (supposing you bought it locally);
Support; WVC54G; select version (I hate it when they offer a "selection" of
one);
Firmware only.
Search delivered 35 hits (!); same as before though. Zilch.
Changed country to US;
Support; WVC54G; select version (I hate it when they offer a "selection" of
one);
Well I be d**** : Firmware *and* Setup Wizard !
</the next bit could be construed as a rant>
DL'd, installed and configured it works in Firefox. Proof of which is sent
offline (I haven't got a readily available means of publishing pics; and I
try to avoid the "open to the world" options of M$, Gurgle and the like).
