If you can figure out how to do an inter-library loan or if you can
request a full book scan, I will cover any expense. The librarians
here looked at me funny when I tried to check it out through worldcat.
They have the real deal. Check out this table of contents scan:

My single language arrogant American ass is having trouble getting the
rest. This will crack the code on RS/6k alternative OS implementation
(though the whole HTI series would be nice).

Have you got an IBM pub. no. for that: aann-nnnn-nn? a = alpha letter, n =

A reckless copy and paste, sorry Tim!
I've got a whole list of them here http://ps-2.kev009.com:8081/rs6000/rs6000-netbsd.html
You can append -00 to any of them to get the first edition. For the
General Architectures, Tier 1 priority, it goes up to at least
SA23-2643-04. Tier 2 priority would be SA23-2646 (Adapters/Options)
and the machine specific docs are Tier 3. Beggars can't be choosers
and TimR and I already understand the MCA PowerPC machines pretty well
so any editions will suffice.
The folks I've talked to at IBM US can't find any references in
publications and archives can't be bothered. I've been on the phone
and had email contact with several hardware engineers and programmers
that actually implemented these boxes, but most have cloudy memories
of the beasts at best.

Kevin

It seems that these only existed in paper/book form and would have been
orderable from your local IBM shop, so I'm guessing that the only copies
would be at IBM RS/6000 specialists who don't chuck "old" manuals out. A
poll of the members' local RS/6000 and pSeries dealerships/specialists would
be the only feasible solution? Just my take on this.

I am willing to help you but:
I live in Germany, but on an Island in the Northsea. And The "Uni Kiel" is at
the Eastsee. approx. 200 kilometers and a few miles on a ferry away. But maybe
there is an other way to get a copy of this book. More via mail.
Is anyone nearer to Kiel in Germany?

What did "Inter-library loan" means? That they send this book to your local
library so you can read/copy it?
I looked at the pages and it seems to me that they really have this book but one
can only read it there in the library, or making hardcopys. On the Contact-page
the state that they have a Bookscanner. So i did not believe that they send this
book out. And if it is legal to make a copy at the Uni Kiel and Send it out to
someone...

My English is not so good. What did you mean with "crack the Code"? Is it
illegal to make a copy of this book?

For me as a german this means that this book must stay local. And on the
Contact-Page i read that this library is at first for the Mathematics and the
IT-Staff - but also for interested People. Then i think, anyone can go there and
read the books they have. But only in the Library - you are not allowed to go at
home with the book. Only under special conditions.

Last line means: You can read this book at the library's rooms. No loan
possible.
Usually local students can copy a few pages. The problem is the payment
at the copier.
Usually university libraries have at least one piece of each marked to
be always present. I bet this is the only piece of this title, even if I
doubt this book was read at all during the last 5 years ;-)

A friend at the CAU says that there are no payment for copies but scanning costs
a lot of time. Can not say if this is correct for a complete copy of the content.

I think One Piece is enought if one can make a copy. :-)
I have heard that the LMU(?) Munich works with Google-books. Maybe, if they had
this book it could be available via google-books? Maybe an option?

from Germany
Hi Kay,
I believe it is legal under the Fair Use laws of the US and EU based
on several conditions of these laws:
1) The book is sufficiently rare
2) The library would take great risk in lending it, especially
overseas
3) Libraries are allowed to copy books in such circumstances
4) The book is forgotten about by IBM
5) I am a Uni student, and it is for my personal use
Your English is great. "Crack the code" is an English figure of
speech that means "figuring out the problem". I am getting other
operating systems to run on these old computers and this text would
help a lot.
