- What is a reasonable price for this machine? It has 640K, two
720K 3.5" drives, 80C86 (8 MHz) processor, one each serial and
parallel port, and is about a year and a half old. Looks to be
in decent condition.
- Can one add a hard drive to this system, and if so, how
expensive would it be? Could one add an external hard drive
(e.g. using the parallel port) and would doing so (a) be
cheaper than an internal HD, and/or (b) be more trouble
than it's worth (e.g. because I'll need that port for a
printer)? Portability isn't that much of an issue, as
I'll be using the machine mostly at home.
- How does this system stack up against other 8086 systems; say,
Packard Bell's 8086 system, which is selling new locally for $1295,
and includes a 30 meg HD? (No need to address the laptop vs.
desktop issue.) How about 8088's?
