How to access "unused" PCI connector, Dell Dimension 4500S
|
| |
I've had a Dell Dimension 4500S for a couple of years and am pleased with it. In the "card cage" there is an Ethernet card for the cable modem connection, as well as a Predator sound card I installed. Looks like that cage only has room for the 2 cards. I recently picked up an Adaptec 1394 card to enable the use of 3 "Firewire"... more »

He suggested it may be power fluctuations coming from my home socket. Is this a possibility? Anything else which might be responsible? I am running Win XP Pro, on an AMD Athlon XP 1800+, with 1.49 GHz, and 512 MB... more »

I have 3 PC's in the house, all having the same hardware and OS (Win XP Home). 2 of the 3 PC's will run programs OK, but the 3rd, my daughters, will not run 'setup' files from the CD-ROM. The CD and CD player are working OK as I can access the CD directory and files such as .doc, .txt, .jpg etc. It is only the setup file which refuses to run.... more »

In addition to previous post..
|
| |
In addition to my previous post, I am upgrading my graphics card because a smearing effect appears on my newly purchased LCD. Smearing as in some pixels to the right of black letterings on a white background has a light grayish effect. I believe that the analog signal from the present graphics card is distorted upon reaching the monitor. Therefore, I have... more »
