can USB disk be reformatted to FAT32?
I have a USB disk of 60 GB. According to the terse little pamphlet in the box, it is formatted NTFS and won't work on a Mac unless formatted by a Mac. Now I am curious: can I reformat it to FAT32, so that I can use it with Windows ME? I presume that I may need a third-party program to do this... []

new raid array
Hi. I am new to RAID, but am getting started. I have a Intel RAID card in a server I bought off Craigslist. I set up a new RAID 1 array with the two 26GB SCSI drives, which went successfully, and it automatically set up a 2 GB FAT partition and left the rest blank. I did not ask it to set it up that way, it just did it, I guess it does... more »

It gave a... more »

Alternative to CD/DVD for backup?
Hi, I have been wondering if there is an storge device that has the read access speed and the convenience of an HD with the safety of DVDR backups. I have been looking into SD Hard Drives, however, those seem to have their own issues. In short, what is the safest way to store my files without having to... more »

Netfinity 5100 SCSI Backplane schematics
Has any of you ever seen one, or know who at IBM to ask for one? I have salvaged one from a server with a dead motherboard, and so far I'm able to run all 6 slots in a standard PC, the SCSI ID's however are different from the ones normally available in operation on a standard NF5100. I would like to figure out how the backplane assigns ID's for the slots.... more »

I already have 5 external HDD's but was thinking of getting the HP Mediasmart so I can cetralize all my backup files etc. for my three PC's. Is it worth the $599.99 CAD price for the version that comes with one 500GB HDD? Here's a review of it. [link]
