ACT Networks NetPerformer SDM-9350 - Help!!!

Howdy,

Bought an ACT Networks NetPerformer SDM-9350 Voice/Data router off ebay
('cause it was cheap and has 4 E&M/FXO/FXS configurable ports.), now I need
to get it to work.

2 problems:
1) No documentation - I've searched high and low and found very little. Does
anyone have any for this router?
2) I've telnetted into it's console port and it's password protected. Any
ideas?

Hi,

Have used ACT 9350 a fair bit, great router (i.e. shame I didn't see it on
ebay first)

Can't remember pw reset off hand, but will track it down for you for
further post.
once in however config is fairly simple.

main command are probably as follows

HE - help (listing of available commands)
DP - display paremeters or current settings
SE - sets the above
SP - saves the above
DPO - Displays port states and latency
DPVC - Displays PVC states and latency
DVS - for voice
DE - Displays Errors on ports
DA - Displays Alarms

Ping is as per normal, from memory, trace is only available in some
firmware versions.

enter 3 times to connect and ctrl Z 3 times disconnects (or steps back to
previous rtr) as you have probably already seen

A few great features -

SC - start capture (basically in inbuilt packet sniffer)
VC - view the above data
(Note: this is probably best done on an eth port as is a FR router. V
handy in troubleshooting in remote locations where other equip/expertise
not avail)

RE - Relay - A layer 2 form of telnet, as such is not effected by ip
routing issues. Also important to note that in earlier firmware versions
there was only (conceptualy) one telnet engine, as such if you telnet in,
you could not telnet out to another router. (Telnet in and relay out or
telnet -> re -> telnet to get around this)

One failing of the earlier firmware versions was the lack of IP support
available in some areas, however newer firmware (whilst hard to track
down) is available.

Another fellow has helped me out on getting into the console (the default
password is 'setup', I can't believe I didn't try that).

I basically got the unit because it has configurable voice ports. I am
interested in using the device to interface with the open source PBX
asterisk (www.asterisk.org). Do you know how to configure the voice ports?
dial plans? extensions?

Do you have/know where I can get documentation for the device? There are a
few options that don't really explain themselves terribly well (ie.
country - a value between 1-96?).

Hi everyone, I recently acquired one of these routers and have many
questions and would love if you all could help me out. My first question
is a dumb one, what settings in hyper terminal do you all use to console
in with? I'm so used to working on Cisco routers, however, the settings I
use for the Cisco routers don't seem to work for this one. Any reply
would be great!!!!

To connect to the console use a DB9 to DB9 serial cable, pinout: 1 and 6
to 4, 2 to 3, 3 to 2, 4 to 1 and 6, 5 to 5. In the hyperterminal
configure: 9600, 8, none, 1, none.

hi, I have about 5 of these in stock. Do I understand correctly, you only paid $1 for one of these??
