Samsung Firmware Update

Hello. I've been having problems with my Samsung SW-408B (firmware rev. BS02) CD-ROM burner. Under XP during burning, it reboots the computer. This doesn't happen under Windows98. I searched for updated drivers/firmware for the burner and found this: Sw-408B_M300.zip. According to the readme.txt it's the firmware update for M300 of SW-408B. Is this the same firmware... more »

cd burner burnt out?

We've got an LG cdrom burner that suddenly stopped functioning. The computer isn't able to find it at boot. The cable and power plugs are good and the computer has no trouble finding a dvd player in place of the cd burner. Would there be some simple replacement needed (like a motor, etc.) that I could take out of a regular cd player and solder in to the burner?... more »
