I've had both the Sony 5 and 6 inch in my hands and I'd say : wait
just a couple of months longer for 8 inch displays to become the
standard. Then if you want to read your newspaper on it you're going
to have to put up with privacy issues, if not get one without wifi.

That's what the Sony PRS-600 is now. That's why it is snoop-proof, no
wifi. I'm not interested in newspaper on eBook so 6" is fine for me.

I've seen the roll-able eBook on a web site but it is very expensive.
I'm happy with my Sony eBook and don't think it is over priced when you
consider I have about $5,000.00 worth of books on it for free. Mine can
double as an MP3 player too because it has expandable memory slots (SD
and Sony memory stick) but doubt I will every use it for that as MP3
makes the battery drain a lot quicker. I did already stick a 4GB SD card
in it though.

I already saw that in a movie :)

Things are moving fast in this world - Fujitsu has got a color eBook,
iRex have 8 and 10 inch devices, Apple is rumoured to be making a big
presentation of an iTablet or something like that on Jan 26th etc.
This time next year that 6 inch b/w device you buy today might look
like a thing from the Flintstones. Got plenty of paper book to tide me
over until I feel the technology has reached a level I can jump in
without having to deal with the compromises of today.

Why would I want to read books in colour? Colour might make the screen
hard on the eyes too because it uses a different kind of tech. I find
reading my Sony eBook easier on my eyes than paper because I have 5
different text sizes to choose from and each size auto formats the page
correctly. eBook is better than reading a paper book, especially if you
are an older person with not so good eyes. Many paperback novels they
cram as much small text onto a page pureley to keep printing costs as
cheap as possible. Well, their economic cheapness was ruining my reading
pleasure and eBook has given it back to me. I'm not even interested in
photos on an eBook even though the Sony does display B&W photos too.

do take Cmdr. Hara's claims with a grain of salt.
His book is great for a ships eyewitness never consulted the records view.
but his claims to have sunk this ship or that ship don't hold up.
I believe he even claims to have hit Kennedy's PT boat and to have sunk
Helena both of which he didn't do.
