I had hope once I discovered that Headgate was at least partially in charge.
Maybe next year they will take more of a dominant role and Tiger Woods 2003
will be a better game, more challenging and less arcadish.

Have you played it?
Funny, I was thinking exactly the same thing.
It's his loss.

And speaking of realism, how is it that I can get 380 yard drives in TW2002?
I'm certainly not knocking your liking TW2002. I personally don't care for
it, and if anyone says that TW2002 is a better golf simulator than LS I'd
have to just flat out disagree. TW2002 just does not cut it. EA has had
years to produce something better than LS, while LS did nothing to improve
its game, except for some cosmetic changes. But they haven't done it. And
now with MS on the verge of developing a real-time swing, the Tiger Woods'
series will be even more of a non-factor in the race for one of the best
golf simulations.

Sounds promising. The link to the entire message is,

Not sure if this will get you to the actual message. But if you browse the

you'll find the whole thread.

So you're holding onto LS in the hope they'll implement a feature already in
place in TW2002? Your prerogative.
I want you to know that on this group, if the post says Alan Bernardo next
to it, I read it everytime. Because you have something to say worth my time.
I disagree with you at times but you own enough grey matter to bring a
perspective that I couldn't have, because, basically I'm not you. I enjoy
that different perspective and opposing views.
Hey, nobody is a bigger Links player than me over the last ... gosh ... 14
years ... is that right? LONG time.
But, I urge you, as a fellow gamer and golfer, to set up Tiger on it's
hardest settings and examine it very closely, all the options, all the
things you can do with it ... basically give it as fair a shot as you can.
Not from the perspective that "Oh...I'm a Links guy so I have to not like
this".
Just from one perspective:
Is it fun?
385 yard drives? Ok ... cool .. I can hit a 6-iron in to this par five ...
see if I can make an eagle.
Maybe see if I can break the all-time scoring record of 59 on the PGA Tour.
Just shoot lights out and see how low you can go.
That can be a lot of fun because everybody likes to succeed. An hour of
mental clamp down to emerge with a hard fought 69 has it's own rewards. You
probably consider that more of an "achievement" than some goofy 58 or
something. I can respect that because I'm a Links player, like you.
But Links doesn't come out until the fall.
Give Tiger Woods a shot. Download Augusta at The Course Depot on Masters
Thursday. Things like that.
Have some fun with it and not take it so seriously as a golf sim but a golf
game.
Now, I play the PS2 version exclusively even though I own both so if you
have a PS2, I urge you to try that version first.
But just try it. Give it an honest to goodness level headed try.
And if you find yourself enjoying it ... that doesn't mean it is a better
golfing experience than Links.
That just means you enjoyed yourself for 45 minutes.
That's all.
And if you didn't enjoy it, come back here and say "Nockston ... you're an
ass".
I can accept that.
:-)
It's not an uncommon reaction to my personality.

We can go on and on and on about this, as you well know. I just prefer LS
while others prefer a different golf game. Right now, I doubt if that will
change. Those who like PGA will stand by PGA; those who like TW2002 will
stand by TW2002; and those who like LS will stand by LS.

Actually I don't think LS felt pressured at all to get its real-time swing
into its game. In the LS community there hasn't been many who have asked
for it. It is a priority, however, but the designers want to get it right
when before it's released. I like that kind of philosophy, rather than
saying "let's get this game out now and we'll fix the problems later."
Just have a look at TW2002's LAN feature (which doesn't work) and PGA2002's
crappy WON service. And both games give the user only one option for online
play. I could name other things that bug me about TW2002, besides the fact
that even after so many versions, TW is still not a very polished game.
But I digress. There's nothing wrong, obviously, with liking TW2002 over
LS2001. I just don't see things that way, and judging by the communities of
each (LS has many more followers than TW has) I think there are many who
agree.

1. Same swing in Links 2003. I doubt seriously this will change.
2. Multiplayer looks to be huge in LS 2003.
3. That being said, I can bide my time between PGA 2K, Links 2001, and
TW2002. I just hope TW2002 keeps getting patched.
In article <eLmm8.84319$ZR2....@rwcrnsc52.ops.asp.att.net>,
aber...@mediaone.net says...
Taken from the EA boards....
There have been a few posts regarding the Patch and True Swing.
Here is brief explanation of how True Swing works
True Swing collects shot information during the first few rounds a player
plays at each of the difficulty settings
True Swing then calculates and average based on mouse velocity
Once that average is determined shot power should level out with it peaking
occasionally at or around 110%
We had to fix a bug with Championship mode that in the past was not
calculating the average correctly. This allowed many players to hit the ball
in the 120%+ range and that is not how it was designed to work.
If you are having issues with true swing since installing the patch, play a
few rounds of golf and allow it to calculate your average then try playing
again. The max power in Championship mode should be some where between
90-110%.
I hope this info helps some of you who are having problems. Thanks for
playing and see you online.

TW2002 has a triclick swing too, but it's not considered as good as
Links. It's not where they were putting their emphasis swing wise.
I've only played it with the trueswing, so I can't really give much of
a comment on the triclick meter.
