I get to the altar where you are supposed use a jug and water, or something.
Suddenly, the game without warning ports me into the room north of that
sacred pool, where I'm attacked by a ghost and some shades. I defeat
them....
AND I CAN'T LEAVE THE ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY? Because the door was locked, and I never opened it. The game just
PICKED ME UP and PUT ME IN THE ROOM without my completing the mission to
UNLOCK THE DOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who beta tested this game? Insane load times, bad AI, glitches, memory
leaks. I know the release was delayed - they should have delayed it some
more.
Thanks, Jonah for this VERY HAPPY news. Show-stopping bugs in initial
reales virtually guarantee that the product will be put on discount
sale very quickly. Bad news like this spreads rapidly, especially on
major releases. ( As a long time observer of the pattern of PC game
sale-prices, I guarantee that the buggier the initial release, the
faster the price falls.) Since this is Bioware, I fully expect that
all the major problems will be addressed by patch releases. However,
the typical purchaser of video games has a very short time-window of
acceptance and little patience with patches.
Dragon Age should now hit a big discount well before Christmas.
I'll put it on my sub- $29.99 purchase list... provided that the
patches available when the game hits that price address all major
issues.

A couple were really minor. One - an item I had just looted,
I wanted to look at, so I went into inventory and it wasn't in the
armor filtered section of the inventory even though it was armour.
But it was in the show-all. So a filter error for at least one item,
so if you're pretty sure you have an item you can't find, keep looking
you're probably right.
Another was a load time issue. For some reason during one
session (I've only had 3 sessions of play os far) the loading screen
wouldn't show up. You'd see 'loading' at the bottom of the screen,
but otherwise a black screen. Everything still loaded fine, and in
fact, loaded even faster - like 5-10 seconds instead of the normal 20
or so. I hope this bug comes back and stays =>
A bigger bug was during a fight against rogue types, the fight
wouldn't end. Couldn't get out of combat, even after I killed
everyone. They were rogue types so perhaps there was one still around
I couldn't see (that's what I figured), but whatever I tried, combat
would not end. I reloaded a save, did the combat again, and it was
fine. So save before every combat.
Every once in a while during a dialog type cutscene when
talking w/npc's the game will stutter, usually while someone is
talking. Waiting a second, not doing anything, solves it as things
jump back into motion. Doesn't last long, like 1-2 seconds, but has
happened at least once in each session I've played the game. Perhaps
its some swap file action?
One feature I kind of dislike - the autosave before a big
fight. Might be a way to turn that off though. But big text comes up
on screen as you're just walking along telling you how the game has
been saved, hehe. Gee, I wonder if something is about to suddenly
attack me. hehe Autosaves of that sort are fine, but do it in the
background w/out the big message in the middle of the screen. hehe
I liked how it was good to go w/xfire out of the box, usually
it takes a while after a game comes out before the people at x-fire
add a game to their program.
Anyhow, no other problems so far. Nothing to prevent me from
enjoying the game. Not yet at least. I'm on the mage quest btw, and
just got to the first major hub when you actually have choice as to
where to go on the world map.
btw, for people w/troubles who use nvidia, I use 174.74
version forceware drivers. I like nvidia, but make it a point to
avoid updating my drivers until I have to, when I find drivers that
work w/all my games. Updating usually makes it so at least one of my
older games becomes problematic - so I stick w/what works. hehe

That's interesting, because I've noticed that auto-save message
several times where there wasn't any big fight afterwards.
One thing I haven't noticed anyone mention so far is that they've
straight-out copied the gambit system from FF12. Not that I'm
complaining, as it's the best method of handling party members AI I've
seen so far.
You mean the tactics system?
I'd forgotten to mention this too, but it's pretty darn good. Gives you
incentive to level up your Tactical Mastery skills to allow you have
more tactics slots.

Minimal fixes.....
John Lewis
Sorry about your problems. My sympathies.
FWIW, I am playing the PC version on my homebuilt AMD system. I have a
Athlon 64 x2 5600+ CPU, 2 Gigs of DDR 800 RAM, and a Geforce 8800GS
video card. I am using Windows 7 32 bit for the OS.
The game installed smoothly, and it runs beautifully (with all settings
maxed). I have encountered no glitches, obvious bugs, or any oddties
yet - but I have only played it for about four hours.
I think it does it whenever you open a new map area.
I've played it for like 30 hours I guess. Installed without a hitch,
but I don't have any DLC (nor am I interested in it) so can't comment
on that. So far, only 1 bug, at one point the game froze completely,
had to kill it in task manager. That's about it.
