There's alot of hype in its wake (and the wait). Let's hope it
delivers. The only game that has more hype this season is MW2, which
I don't understand (been there done that). I hope it outsells it and
brings back the dominance of RPGs. I know, fat chance, but I can
dream.
Insert grumble about UK release dates here.
We have to wait until Friday.
And, of course, I have a free evening this week on /Thursday/.
Heh... the massive web advertising campaign reminds me of a national
election. :-) At least it's a bit of a reprieve from those Evony ads.
I'm kind of surprised how weak on detail most of the previews/reviews are.
They haven't answered most of my questions. Is there any online component?
What is the combat like? What's the basic story? It's pretty much: "This
game is awesome. Buy two copies." Mind you, I'll probably buy it off of
Steam once my willpower weakens a bit more.
I was surprised to see the rather low system requirements for a game of this
kind. Force Unleashed can bite my ass, since it looks like I can't play that
without some trouble.
> Can't believe it's almost finally here.
2 days you say?
they don't think so:
(for example)
http://www.mininova.org/tor/3110025
27 seeds, 1233 leechers
or
http://www.mininova.org/tor/3109728
with instruction to hack serial number check.
so much for copy protections.

Me too - but my Xbox version doesn't arrive until Friday or Sat, and I
couldn't resist the temptation...
Just finished playing the City Elf origin, and so far so good - I
think I'll spend this week playing through the origins, and deciding
on who to go for first when I start playing properly this weekend.
LOL - that would mean something coming from Jonah if he was actually a gamer
& not a spammer wannabe journo! Good one, best laugh I've had all week. >8^D
Anyway, hit prediction: another consolitis port & dumbed down top-end
shovelware from bioware.

Most ridiculous post I've seen in a long time. If you don't like
Bioware games then this is the wrong group for you.
And spoken like someone who hasn't played the PC and console versions. I
have. Dragon Age is LEAD DEVELOPED on PC. In fact, the game was done months
ago. They used the time to polish it to a glimmering sheen.
Last I checked this was a pc crpg newsgroup. Bioware haven't had something
that was console-crap free for years (unless you count NWN2, which had all
it's own issues & shortcomings). This is not comp.sys.bioware.kissarse - I
think you'll find one of those in the alt.* hierarchy. ;-p

Yes, that's what 'hit prediction' usually means dickhead.

I think you were looking at something else with a glimmering sheen while you
were playing it with your other hand rofl!

NWN2 is done by Obsidian and not Bioware. Obsidian is to Bioware as
Raven is to ID.

Typical Russkie pirate! You ever pay for any games?

typical Russian drunk attempt to joke.

I hear you, but this is a rare case of a PC game ported to the
consoles, and from the reviews I've seen, it seems to be that way
(like console reviews saying things like playing it with a mouse would
be much better).
I've seen previous posts from you and you talk like a yank and not a
Russkie. Me Russkie and not you. I bet you don't even like Vodka.
Gamespot reviews are to be taken with a large dose of salt. They give
every AAA tile 9.5 rating, sometimes even 10. Here's a much more
balanced review. 7.5 only. Good but has issues that will probably get
fixed at some point.
http://www.destructoid.com/review-dragon-age-origins-153764.phtml#ext
Very well. Still I will wait for more reviews, and particularly from this ng players.

Indeed I do not like vodka, my little barfly. That doesn't make me less Russian, though.
Probably it makes me less Russian lowlife.
Using of derogatory word 'Russkie' tells much about you, Anton Killer of Vodka.

"Mass Effect" was similary leaked, and you could spot the pirates because
the crack introduced some bugs - about whom those with the illegal copy
asked for tech support on the forums ^_^

I have read in forums cracked Drakensang introduced some gamestopping issues
as part of its copy-protection. That's probably most simple and most efficient
kind of the protection.

Having played for a good few hours (I got through 3 origins) and being
impressed with how well it runs on my aged PC (even if it is in
ugly-o-vision) I've cancelled my Xbox preorder, and will pick the PC
version up on Friday after work.
The reportedly much-better UI worked in its favour, too.

ROFL - I love good ol' Russian banter! ;)

Whatever the case, my point was & is, I'm not going to take the word of some
wannbe-sellout-spamlinker singing its praises. If (& that's a big IF!)
Bioware can make a pc crpg without their eyes firmly fixed on the console
dollar, then & only then (+ a few dozen independent reviews later) I might
consider supporting their efforts. But at this point it's all menaingless -
it's just more dollars into the bottomless pit of a large corporate
profiteer *sigh*, even if a few of the programmers & what not are still
doing it for 'the love of it' at Bioware *guffaw*.

I sit on my fat arse corrected! (though Bioware did provide the engine & a
lot of support during development...apparently)

I agree that *trying the game first* is better, if one wants to be taken
seriously. Except if you work for Daily Mail of course :^D

Your post tells me you frequent pirated software torrents which makes
you a douchebag. If it wasn't for people like me that pay for their
games there would be no games for you little douchebags to steal.

I already figured that it is you pitiful troll, Waz Medano.

I've changed my mind again :-D
The game has random slowdown on my system, by which I mean sometimes
it runs fine, and other times runs like crap on the same settings.
I've also seen some 360 gameplay trailers, and the controls look fine,
and optimised for a pad, so that's ok.
360 version here I come !
Only one of them is Russian. The other is our resident nym-shifting retard.
- Sheldon
FWIW the original lead designer of NWN2 is now working at Bioware,
on the Dragon Age project.

I already figured that you figured that. Saying you talk like a yank was
a deliberate giveaway on my part, that still doesn't negate the fact you
are a douchebag pirate. I may be a troll but my trolls speak the truth.
That's what makes me a better troll than the wannabe trolls. Without us
trolls Usenet would be quite boring so look at us as providing a service
instead of your enemy.
Welcome back SK!

I think it was in Ultima III there was an NPC or shopkeeper that was crucial to
your progression in the game that refused doing business with you, saying some-
thing along the lines of "Honesty is a virtue, I will not speak with thee!"
