I downloaded the latest update a few days ago but haven't been up to
playing for several months. ISP just introduced bandwidth charges, so
we still need a bit of "normal" data on how much to pay for before I
push the numbers up by running an MMO!
If the cost playing any MMO shows up in your ISP bill then you need to
switch ISPs. MMOs take up very little bandwidth, most are designed to
work on dialup after all. That update you downloaded probably required
more bandwidth than if you played Lord of the Rings: Online fulltime for
a month. You need to be doing things like downloading entire games and
movies to excede the free download caps of ISPs like Rogers or Bell.

Sure as long as you arent an alt.troll player.
At least be a REAL troll to the newsgroup. Use on-topic trollings. And dont
crosspost to a dozen others including a dead group so you can continue many
trollings by one thread just to make keeping your scoreboard simpler.
There would be a difference between being an comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.rpg
troll and being an alt.troll troll
Gandalf Parker
You would have to log in for more than 5 minutes at a time to do that,

Yes, even my character is back with the original Sissypigs in the Order

Thanks; I didn't know that. I expect Cogeco has similar policies to

LotRO updates.

Even downloading Lords of the Ring: Online in entirety shouldn't all by
itself put you over the download limits. Looking at Cogeco's WWW site
their cheapest plan has a 10 GB limit, so you shouldn't have exceded
the limits just from updating the game. It's probably something else
you're downloading that pushing you over the limit, especially if you
have the standard plan with the 60GB limit.
I don't play with Benedict Arnolds...not even for 5 mins at a time >;-p
Actually, been back into it with the Mrs & the 2 new accounts we bought
recently for the anniv special. A warden/hunter combo seems really good. Any
other duo combos anyone else might recommend as the best for overall
gameplay/progression (my wife is a complete newb & still struggling a bit
with the 3D heh).

I rarely threaten. Mostly I just inform.
And in the newsgroups I usually hang out in (netcop groups, white-hat
hackers, etc) personal trolls are considered to be a sign of usenet
prosperity. Think about it. To be a famous netizen in newsgroups you
would have to have one of two things. A presence which goes back years
and thousands of posts, or personal trolls. Ive had both for decades.
"Just what I always wanted. My very own bunny rabbit. I will hug him,
and pet him, and squeeze him, and name him George."
Also in those newsgroups I haunt we treat personal trolls like pets. We
brag about how smart our trolls are, do they follow us around, what kind
of treats we offer them (and punishments).
Altho as a NetCop I do enforce all AUPs and ToS's. You might reread
astraweb's Acceptable Use Policy just to be sure. Oh and I do not accept
alt.troll players as a personal troll.

Personally Ive been driving a project to try and get computers into old
folks homes. They have such great stories, they love to debate
EVERYTHING, and they have no one to listen to them. I think it would
liven such a place up quite abit to introduce them to newsgroups. :) "Hey

Usenet has in fact gotten *tamer* over the past few years.

Most of my suggestions go the other way. Things that ill or shutins can do

When I re-read my sentence above I cringed at what the reply might be (&
there could be many unsavoury ones of course coming from this place ;).
But leave it to you to make an intelligent suggestion X. The only problem

online mmo-style gold farming thing is probably out I guess. If you can find
her an iso 2D game ala D2 (she was the only to ever get to 99th with her
zon) to make money with, then she can click all day (with rest breaks) - she
has no probs on the OCD side, which is 1 of the reasons why we fit so well

I wasn't mentioning Entropia as a place for gold farming, just that the
game currency PED, is linked to the US dollar, 10 ped = $1, so you can
use real money to buy equipment early on, but exchange PED for real
dollars later when you have money.

Took a break from CoH this month, since the season 5 dvd set for
Stargate Atlantis finally came out.
Currently trying out a freeMMO called Florensia.
Anime style seriously cute characters, and it has a sea portion as well
which has it's own stats, ship building etc, though I haven't explored
any of that yet.
I'll probably head back to CoH next month, but who knows.
I'll definitely go back when the new expansion hits the stores and I can
finally play villain ATs Heroside. [I like some of the villain ATs,
especially Masterminds, but I'm not a big fan of the Villain maps.]
Didn't mean to imply Entropia was directly like gold farming in other
mmos (I have researched it a bit in the past, as well as games like 2nd
Life), but just used that term collectively for 'making money in a mmo'
;). It might be something she could do, but again if it's not too
competitive or overflowing with stats/numbers. I guess there's no end to
the muppets out there who are willing to pay for virtual currency &
items! <G>

SecondLife does that also.
Its one of my moneymaking links. Firstly when Im consulting and pitching
moneymakers like CafePress (great for doodlers and wise-crackers). I tell
them if they are game addicted they might want to check out places like
SecondLife. Create an in-game shop matching their virtual shop. Sell
avatars copies of their tshirt designs and mention that if they really like
it they can get a real version sent to their house for themselves.
The other way is that I haunt places like answers.yahoo.com (DISCLAIMER:
terribly addictive. DO NOT go there if you are tend to stay online because
someone is wrong). I search for questions such as being bored with Sims and
I pitch SecondLife as the step up (which I truley believe) but I include a
link that gives me credit for anyone using the link and signing up. The in-
game rewards can eventually be cashed out as real money.

Yeah its like any sellout. Im trying to convince myself that I didnt
sellout TOO much.
I eventually had to spank myself for spending 16 hours a day online for no
money. So now Ive found a way to do what I was doing anyway, and try to
trickle some pennies from it. Im not finding the forums to spam them. Im
finding a way to mention things in forums I was already spending way too
much time in.
And I tell myself (and Im pretty sure its true) that Im not finding the
cash, then selling the item. Im selling the item anyway, and just finding
the cash after the fact. As long as I dont let the money convince me what
is or isnt worth pitching to people then I dont feel like a sellout (please
dont try too hard to convince me otherwise) ;)
One of the things I pitch when consult is that people should find a subject
they love. Then I tell them how to start a site on it and build it up for
free or very little cost to start getting income from it. Altho I know
thats a more acceptable thing to do, its just not me.

I wouldn't dream of it! If you were in it just for the money, you'd be doing
something else & much less enjoyable no doubt. <G>
So you're retired from memory I take it Gan? Can't wait
personally...*wistful sigh*

Yep. Military retired at age 39 (a long time ago). And I majorly hacked my
way thru those 20 years.
Now I get monthly retirement check, full medical benefits, cheap shopping
if I want to drive out to a base and do it. I also get worldwide travel for
a few bucks (I think its $15 now to fly space-available) and can get space
available accomodations on the base. There is an air force base with a
major medical center just 7 miles from me so Im pretty well setup with the
essentials. Everything else is gravy.

Is it too late for me to emigrate to Miramar & start a career at 44? As
my qualifications, I know most of the dialogue to Top Gun verbatim. <G>

Actualy I could have made recommendations on how to get all that and never
have to go to war, but Bush ruined all those options.
