I figured out why sometimes Fero's sword is not at Hosh-Pak's tent.
It is a triggered event. First, you have to talk to the dragon hunter
Biff. He is by the dead palladin on the first trail in the Old World.
Then, you must talk to Oric and Fero at the Castle. After that, Fero's
sword will be laying on the ground right behind Hosh-Paks tent.
Next, if you want to go talk to Ur-Shak, above Fajeth's mine, you
are going to trigger a battle between the miners there and a bunch
of Elite Orcs. Not much chance anybody survives. I got the Elite
Orcs by jumping half way down the cliff face by Ur-Shak, and using
the Xbow on them. Lot of hit points, but dead miners too. Don't
know what this screws up.

With one exception of course .. Thorwyn at WOG knows G2 very very
well. Anybody starting out in G2 ... go talk to him, or review all his
posts.

Mark as 'spoiler' you numbskull. I may play that one day.

Yes, by all means mark it as a spoiler. After all, the entire world will
wait for you to play the 5+ year old game.
Btw, did you know Spock dies and Darth Vader is Luke's father?

Oh do lighten up Micky. If I were really going to play it I would obviously
have a walkthrough.
I think the SPOILER he refers to was this part:
"I'm posting this here for the G2 players. I note that the forums are
not much help, and a lot of them are hostile at best. So a google
search will come here."
Something else. I've played all the good games out
there .. Far Cry, Gothic 3, Crysis ... and I notice that
there was a peak in the quality of PC gaming about the
time of Far Cry. I had no idea that Gothic 2 was the
great game that it is .... far superior to Gothic 3, and
complete in its theme. Graphically, it is somewhat
dated, but not bad .. not bad at all.
Now, I'm working on the "immortal dragon" bug. I'm
using the marvin flag reset to make the dragon mortal
again, and I'll post on how it goes. I also will try to
get a Paladin to accompany me to the Fire Dragon.
Follow is not very good in G2 .. or G3, so that might
not be possible ??
Also, my armament is not all that high, but I'm doing
fine. I've developed my sword and Xbow skills to about
45 %, and I have the Master sword 65:65 and Light
Dragonhunter armor. So far I have met no invincible
beasts or Orcs .. in singles. Mobs on the other hand,
are not like in G3. In G2, they will ALL attack at the
same time, and you can't defeat that except by
climbing out of reach. I always look for that first
and use the Xbow when they crowd around below
me ... a very good exploit in G2.

You haven't played crap for good PC games newbie.
It went fine. The marvin fix .. flag=0 .. worked, and I
was able to damage the Fire Dragon. Plus, the fix did
not effect anything else in the game. It is still butt-
kicking hard. I did use an Xbow exploit on the last 2
dragons. I simply cannot beat them with a sword
... like I did with the Stone dragon. So, I completed
the dragon quest, and reported to the castle. Never
found Angar, but I did get his amulet. Word is he
wanders off to Bengar's Farm. I'll go look.

Another Oblivion - Witcher fan, obviously.

You've played a handful of cRPGs (mostly playing Gothic 3 a gazillion
times) starting a couple years ago and somehow think you know
everything about them. Haven't you ever wondered why most posters
here seem to hold you in contempt?
No. The vast majority of them seem to like crap.
I've checked out nearly all they recommend, and
it seems most of them never got past their C64s.
When they were trying to keep the memory
module plugged in, I was wire-wrapping an
Apple II and writing printer drivers for it. By the
time they discovered Doom, I was coding games
in BorlandC, and wrote my own graphics OS.
My only interest in RPGs is the hybrid FPS-
RPG which is driving the PC hardware industry
right now ... and providing my CAD labs with
game machines that can kick a Workstation's
ass for 1/4 th the price. I have no interest in kid
stuff ... magic paper dolls make me puke. On
line punks make me wish I could get my hands
on one of them.
Gothic 2 uses a virtual drive system that could
have made Gothic 3 run smooth ... IF ... we
could get driver support for a 64 bit OS. You
can't use a ram-based cache if the basic game
loads over 1.2 gigs before it even starts. This
technique is probably why Vista at least attempts
to do so ... and the game coders developed it.
Also, I find the old German culture to be interesting.
Most of these RPG games are a stupid interpretation
of that. The Gothic series is the only one I've found
that makes any effort to produce the old environ
of that culture ... and its mythology. I'm not the
slightest bit interested in the "me too" trash
that is trying to copy the Gothic series.

Hey idiot. I see that you are still posting specific gameplay
information without courtesy warnings and "spoiler-space". After a
year of requests to do otherwise on these newsgroups.
Either you are a total imbecile or an arrogant ass. Or both.
