Seems to be the status Quo for Blizzard.
Probably because they played Twilight and realized that Diablo3 offered
nothing more than Twilight does and Twilight is only $19.99.
Torchlight? I wouldn't say it offers more. If it had net/lan play
and maybe 3 more classes, it would give D3 a run for its money,
especially at anything less than $50. The free to play MMO (which
will correct these two flaws) is coming in 18 months, will still
probably beat D3 to market.
And mouse manufacturer companies lost 20% market value the same day!

Um, yes, that is the game I meant, thanks.
There may be an element of truth to that. I've been playing Twilight for a few
days now and I'm really enjoying it. I think I had better pets in Fate, namely
a small army of Wyverns, but its early days yet. I gave a spell to my dog that
allowed it to summon Zombies and to fire ice shards, turning him into a doggy
gun platform!
The graphics and spell effects seem much better in D3 though to be honest.
Nice!

Indeed... I am tiring of Torchlight a little, but I cannot dispute the
proposition that pets with spells rock.

I never considered Diablo to be an rpg. I tried it for about 4
hours, and my feeling was that it was a simple action title. I got
bored from the repetition rather quickly, and because of this I decided
never to try any of the sequels, if it had any.
I suppose part of this is because I definitely prefer combat to be
turn based, like in Betrayal at Krondor. Now THERE was an excellent RPG
that I'd like to see redone for Windows 7, with improved graphics.
