It's not that it's a bad game, it's just that it so, hmm, misses. the biggest problem let down it that there are about five tactical maps, landing in China looks just like landing in Mexico ect... Then there's the soldier loadouts, very limited choices. The strategic game is even more limited. I could go on, but I wont.

OK, I will. Got toward the end of the game it became increasingly unstable with several ctds. And then there's the end mission, dull to say the least. The alien commander seems to be explaining what it was all about but it doesn't make the least sence.
If you can get past the graphics, the original game is so much more satisfying.

I have the Firaxis remake and it is ok but too dumbed down. Try this fan

made remake, it is the most like the original Xcom. As it is it is an early
beta for $19.99 so expect improvemnets along the way. Not all the art is
even in yet. Price goes up to $24.99 when it is finished.
