Amazon.com customer review

Just putting a post, to give out some information for those folks
"sitting on the fence" wondering if Aion is worth ordering or not. I'm
trying not to be negative about the game per se, rather, saying it's
maybe not for everyone. It tends to lean heavy on the "PvP-aholic";
"Grouping is where it;s at" ,"I luv to grind XP " style of game play.
Which, don't get me wrong, is a perfectly valid style of play, but
tastes do differ. I much prefer the exploration aspects of a Morpg
versus bragging rights...

I played it during the free trial. Its a Korean grind fest with a
basic quest system thrown on top of it for Western players. Wolrd of
Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online and Everquest 2 do this kind of MMO
better. Play one of those instead.

That's what I meant - the few exceptions would be mmos like LOTRO, which is
far more story-centric (at least it was for me, though admittedly there's
plenty of grind if you go looking for it). I also found AoC quite fun &
compelling...at least until I got out of Tortage...:-/.

Next mmos on the horizon that I'm even vaguely excited about: SW:TOR & GW2.
The rest are all mostly either PvP gankfests and/or WoW clones. Until then
I've gone back to shooters & SP crpgs. Nuff said?
