I have not had good experiences with Omega drivers in the past with my
8500 (yes, everything uninstalled, inf, oem.inf, reg cleaned out), but
others swear by them. If it fixes this JF18 problem then I may have
to revisit them with the 9500Pro.
Thanks

No problems with Water or FSAA. Just couldn't play the sim at a good
framerate since I was using a 800Mhz processor.
On the Nvida Ti4400 Card:
Any driver with a 40.XX you will get the "Picasso" water.
The only "fix" for this is to turn off "low level noise mapping" and
"sparkling water". Which leaves you with a 3rd grader's rendition of an
ocean.
The Nvida 30.41 drivers work perfect. Including the FSAA and Ansio. I had no
problems with fuzzy font or anything. However, I was using the Riva Tuner.
At the time I had a 1.4 Athlon and the Ti4400 video card.
On the ATI 9700 Pro Card:
Using Cat 3.0 and the Cat 3.0(a)
You get Picasso. No FSAA
Using Omega's Drivers (install right on top of the Cat 3.0s)
You DO NOT get Picasso. No FSAA
Using the hard as hell to find Leaked beta Drivers
You get Picasso, but you DO GET FSAA. However, the is some "slight" banding
in the sky. Not too bad. However, I did get bad studdering in the frame
rates, when turning on the A-A radar. This made these drivers non-playable
for me.
This is on a Athlon 2600 XP and a ATI 9700 pro card. BUT HOT DAMN! I can
finally play this sim with MAX settings including clouds. With FPS in the
30s.
So here is the dilemma and how I plan to solve it:
Staying with the Omega Drivers:
Run Janes F18 in all it's glory (Everything turned on at MAX) at 1280 x 960
resolution and 16x ansio. Very few jaggies, not bad. Outstanding frame rates
and still able to read the font. (Thank God for 20/20 vision)
Run F4 at 1600 res using Aeyes cockpits. Ansio set in the game. With frame
rates equal to the Ti4000 running at 4S-8 tap mode or better. (Very nice!)
MSFS2002 - No problems with FSAA or ansio .... Max everything... butter
smooth.
No other game I play has a FSAA problem. Quake2, Unreal 2003, America's Army
or Ghost Recon.
Should be well set for any other sim release.
Are they working on the 16 bit fix yes! For me, I am willing to sacrifice a
little eye candy to be able to play at smooth frame rates. But that's me.
I hope this helps

I am curious to see if FSAA and F18 works (including Air to Air mode) using
Cat 3.1 and Direct X 8.1? My understanding is some people are using Direct
X 8.1 and Cat 3.1s, so it's possible. Anyone want to give it a shot and
report back?

Yes but it didn't work.
The only driver that consistently works for me is the 3.0a with the
Omegas.
I have had other funny problems when changing drivers around so I
may have some trash left lying around. So my experience may not be
generally applicable.
