Geez, haven't played this in ages. Can you be a bit more specific with the
problem? I'm sure if you jog my memeory, I'll be able to help. I completed
this about 2 years ago. Personally, it was my favorite of the entire series.

SPOILER SPACE
Every time all the weights are on one pole, you may to the room to the north
and go to a room corresponding to that particular pole. You can only move
one weight at a time, and can't put big weights on little weights.

One more time...will you please cut out the headers on your messages.

Never heard of it. Is it a text game?
Michael
mshe...@cix.co.uk
If not, here's how(using Internet Explorer, anyway), dammit:
Go to tools/options/click "send" folder tab/UNcheck "include message in
reply"
If one wants to include the relevant previous post( or parts thereof) just
copy and paste the dang thing.
I'm too lazy to have to scroll through all the >'s and other crap to read
people's responses.
There. I've said it. But it's not going to do a bit of good.
Mark
Yes it is!

Yes, part of the many that Infocom wrote in the late '70s to '80s.

To be precise, it's a text game with some graphics. It doesn't have
illustrations of the rooms, but it does have some graphical puzzles.

Do you think there's any likelihood of its being released free as
promotional material for a later so-called Zork game, as Zork I, II
and III were? I'm totally skint, but I want copies of Zork Zero and
Beyond Zork!
Penguin
BTW, O Zarf - I started in on playing that Wonderfully Authored game
'So Far', but all that "Beware, this is really hard" stuff at the
beginning scared me. You got an easier one for me to start with?
P.
It's unlikely - I don't think they are making any more Zork games ATM, and
neither Zero nor Beyond are as well known as the original trilogy.

Try "A Mind Forever Voyaging" (Infocom) or "Guilty Bastards" (Freeware)
The first isn't easy, but eases you in well, the second is very easy. But
most text adventures are quite challenging.

I have no idea. I guess it's possible, but I don't even know if Activision
is planning to continue their graphical Zork series.

_A Change in the Weather_ is *really* hard. (I didn't have enough
experience yet at writing sane games. :-)
_Spider and Web_ is probably easier overall, but not much easier. On the
other hand, there are walkthroughs, or you can ask for hints on the
relevant newsgroups.
See http://www.eblong.com/zarf/if.html for my list of games. Those three
are the "real" games. The others are experiments or jokes. Not that
there's anything wrong with that, of course. Heh.
