Mass Effect - Steam Version
No handbook with steam version. I've never played this before. I've read info within game, just a couple of questions about stores if anyone can help. 1. Where can I aquire grenades. Been to many stores but none listed. 2. The licences listed at stores; what are they for and are they needed early in the game?... more »

Workaround for installing Modern Warfare 2
It seems that a large number of people are having a problem installing the retail version of Modern Warfare 2 from the supplied DVD's. For some reason Steam ignores the discs and tries to download 11GB of game files instead. Understandably, a considerable number of people are finding that unacceptable given the amount of time that will take.Not... more »

Simpsons Hit and Run ignores my keyboard
I havr DirectX 9 installed, and my system meets all of the minimum system requirements. It has worked fine on this computer before, but I uninstalled it some time ago. When I went to reinstall it, the installation went through fine, it plays the intro screens and movies fine, and it gets up to the main menu. However, my keyboard is... more »

COD:MW2 impressions (no spoilers)
Just had the pleasure of playing the first 4 missions of COD:MW2, it is a great game. The gameplay mechanics are like the previous games, so if you liked COD4 you will be all over this. It has obviously had a lot of work put into it, there is a lot more going on graphically which really adds to the atmosphere, it grabs you from the start of... more »

Anybody playing FPS games on an External HD?
Am just about out of space on my game drive. Sure, I could delete some I haven't played in a while but most of them don't have that option in Add/Remove Programs in Windows XP. Or I could take it to town and have somebody clone my D drive and put the contents on a new Terrabyte drive. But, I could use another backup external drive. I... more »

Not OT. How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb?
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs 1 to move it to the Lighting section 2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section... more »

Painkiller: Resurrection review (of sorts)
I don't know what to say about this game. To start with, it's yet another game whose lineage has created expectation that hasn't been met. It's better than Overdose in concept, but fails in major ways in application. The biggest mistake was putting the production and QA in the seemingly unsupervised hands of "Homegrown". The same people made the Overdose... more »

Prometheus
This is the second Unreal mod I've come across this week. Prometheus is supposedly a single player co-op game along the lines of Portal and Mirror's Edge. It has an interesting time twisting premise involving your own character from the past, present and future. Get the demo here (320MB) [link]... more »
