Serious Sam HD is available via Steam tomorrow (and presumably via
retail as well). Is anybody else interested in this? I can't wait to
play it.

According to Croteam there is already sufficient interest in this
release to warrant them thinking about reworking Serious Sam: The
Second Encounter as well. I really hope that proves to be the case.

I love this type of game. Discounting the dreadful Serious Sam 2, the
only other games of this type apart from those two were The Nitro
Family, Will Rock, The Painkiller games and more recently,
Dreamkiller.

I wish there were more. Left4Dead doesn't qualify in my opinion as
it's different enough from those games to warrant its own sub-genre.

Not at the price they are charging. I will wait for it to be the Steam
cheapie of the week in a few months time. I haven't played the
original in years, does it look bad now? I always thought it was
reasonably well textured.

Actually I think the original games are still graphically acceptable.
With some of the other older games that I get a hankering to play, I
usually end up uninstalling them again quickly because of how they
look compared to modern games.

Some games age well and some don't for some reason. I recently
replayed Chaser and it still looked OK in most places.

I always swore that I would not become a graphics whore. But with the
passage of time that's more or less what I've become in many ways.

I'm not sure about this one. High res or not, it looks totally
stripped down compared to anything that has come since the original
Far Cry.

Under 20 bucks, so if I see it in a store I'll probably cave and get
it. Not a chance through STEAM.

WTF were croteam thinking when making SS2 like that? SS stood out as
a classic the moment I started playing it. I couldn't get thru' the
1st level of SS2! "SS enhanced" is OK, to keep SS alive -- but I'm
really expecting more from croteam. They've shown that they can do
it.

I just played 30 minutes of this game. I sorely miss this type of
shooter with its crazy amount of enemies and even crazier collection
of overpowered weapons.

The fantastic memories just came flooding back. Right from when Sam
uttered the immortal words "Yeah, it's all fun and games until
somebody gets hurt" after the first shotgun gib, right through to
running over miles of empty sand towards a distant speck on the
horizon, knowing full well what's going to happen when you collect
that piece of armour.

It's all still there but now it looks a lot more modern. The game is
still Serious Sam beneath those upgraded graphics though. Roll on
Serious Sam: The Second Encounter HD
