So I'll have to stick with winXP for gaming again. Brings back the refresh
rate issue. I used Reforce to fix my refresh rates (the NVIDIA drivers allow
fixing of Direct3D only, so I have to use third party stuff). Thing is, very
often, when windows is running, and I turn off my monitor, then turn it on
later- the system / Reforce will see it as a new monitor every now and then.
And any refresh rate overrides are lost, because they are locked to a
specific monitor.
Same thing when I fire up my PC and windows boots while the monitor is still
off, when I turn it on it will be recognised as vision master Pro nr 5
/2/13/14 , or something like that. And the refresh rate will be wrong (which
forces me to correct the geonemtry of my monitor also- very annoying).
Any way to prevent this, aside from leaving the monitor on?
You could try RefreshForce: http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/
Worked best for me.
My System:
OS: Windows 2000 SP3
Driver: Detonator 41.13
Card: GeForce 4 Ti 4400
Monitor: Iiyama HM903DT (Vision Master Pro 454)

yep that the program I was already using- have you noticed that you have a
list of something like 11 monitors in that program, after awhile? You need
to set the refresh rates fot the "new" monitor each time you turn the
monitor on "unexpectedly"...
Any other proggies that do this kinda refresh fixing? I noticed the other
day (I know, I'm slow) that Enemy Territories was dropping back to 60Hz from
my 1024X768 85Hz windows default (even though the res & colors I was using
were the same). However, D2 plays in the correct 85Hz refresh even when
dropping back to 800x600. Can someone pls elaborate on the exact nature of
this problem, or provide a URL? Are there any know official fixes pending?
TIA!

it dosen't happen to me. there are only three monitors: standrd, my old
monitor and the one i'm using.
if refreshforce can't help you, then you could try this programm:
"RefreshLock"
get it here: http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rl/
the main disadvantage with refreshlock is, the programm got to run in the
background. just try it.
