Am into ME 3 and struggling with: The quest is 2nd part of the Rannoch
quest.....3 Geth Primes after getting off the elevator. I see the Geth
rifle waiting for me to grab, but get nailed even tho' Garrus & Liara
are doing their best. I don't know if my choice of characters here was
the most useful.

The other area giving me fits is the Ardat-Yakshi monastery with the 2
banshees and the husks. The best I can manage are the husks and one Banshee.

I am getting tired of dying. I know I can go to a forum and get some in
depth answers but would just like a bit of help in the strategy dept
from the group without spoilers. I am not very good at combat strategy,
but I have gone a quite a way before having to call for help.

I've tried to have Garrus scatter around some mines and have used the
heavy duty upgraded shotguns on both the primes and banshees but to no
avail.

The ME series is the first of its kind (altho' I did finish Deus EX HR)
I've gotten into because CRPG's are my favorite, but I got thru ME1 &
ME2 and enjoyed them, but I've run up against a big wall here. TIA

Quite possibly you may need to use tech powers to destroy the shields of
the enemies in these areas. Overload can be good against robot enemies
like the Geth. Then you can pound away at their armour.
For the Banshees I just kept running around getting into cover and
taking pot shots at them, and also using the powers against them. Keep
moving, using powers and shooting them and you'll eventually wear them down.
It took me a few attempts to get past them too...;)

Thanks.....but I'm gonna keep at it and not give up just yet.

I may have to go to a forum or website, but not just yet.

Thanks....I have used overload and even attempted to have Garrus drop
those grenade thingies all over the place. I try not to stay too long in
one spot, but the banshees follow me everywhere, even tho' I act like a
whirling dervish. Sometime they even double team me.

I'll just have to keep at it until I find the right formula, but damn
it's hard. I even turned the game to easy, but I don't think the end
scenario for these missions has been made any easier when I chicken out
like that. I can't imagine what hard/insanity mode must be like for a
dweeb like me trying to play this game

I might have to peek at the Prima Guide @ our local Walmart..;-)

I haven't reached these parts of ME3 yet, but the general tactics I use
(for hard difficulty mode) involve turning off the squad use of
offensive powers. That way you can suddenly unload a lot of firepower on
one target and get it out of the way. For turrets and mechs, using
overload and sabotage, is essential. Once the targets are down
temporarily I hit them with incinerate and armor-piercing ammo. When
given a choice I often pick the skills when upgrading, to give
armor-piercing powers to the entire squad, rather than increasing the
damage dealt only for that particular character.

Cryo ammo is also great, especially if someone else has the incinerate
skill. Generally frozen targets hit by fire, and floating targets
(Liara's powers) hit by Warp or Warp ammo receive devastating damage.

I honestly didn't know you could turn off the squad's use of offensive
powers. I haven't had too much of a problem with turrets and mechs using
overload and that heavy duty shotgun...the Graal Spike thrower or the
Claymore. I do not have sabotage, but have the cryo ammo, warp ammo and
incinerate.

I have tried to skirt around the pillars in the monastery and shoot the
Banshees with the spike thing or the Claymore and those actually do the
heavy damage, bu I just can't seem to get the job done.

Thanks for the tips...they'll give me something else to try or to
restart the mission with another one of the characters with sabotage
capability.

Thank you so much......I managed the Banshees at Ardat Yakshi, kept
moving and didn't use the heavy duty shotguns...got thru that one. Your
advice about moving around and staying close to but not in cover helped
a great deal.

I'll now work to the three Geth Primes.

Your tips were most helpful. This game offers a lot to someone like me
w/o much action and strategic combat experience. I bet the game gets to
be even more fun as my ability to play gets better and I'm able to take
advantage of all ME3 has to offer.

Appreciate you're taking the time to share your experience in these
sections of the game with me.....just what I was looking for.
