I just bought Magic Carpet 2, and while I think it's a fabulous game, I
keep experiencing frequent crashes. The game runs great for 1/2 hour or so,
then I suddenly get kicked to DOS, and my sound card sustains the last note
played before the crash. I run the game under DOS 6.22 with no disk
compression. I've tried it under Win95, but get the same results. I meet the
requirements & run the game in high res. I tried low res for about 5 minutes,
which was as long as I could stand after seeing it in high res. I use a
boot disk as per the installation card & the only TSR's I load are my CD
driver & MSCDEX. My system is a Gateway 2000 133Mhz Pentium w/16MB RAM,
Matrox Millenium graphics card w/2MB WRAM, Ensoniq SoundScape Elite card
(natively supported), and Mitsumi 4x CD-ROM drive. The system is 2 months old
& all the drivers are current. Can anyone offer any solutions? Are there any
EA techs out there?

It crashes on a Gateway2000 P4D-66 also. But it runs fine on my home built
clone... This isn't much help but at least you know it's not just you.

I only played the demo and i have a completely different system but i
was experiencing the same phenomenon in hires mode. I hoped this to be fixed
till the release of the full version.

My system: MB Asus I-55/TP4XE
CPU P100
cache 256 pb
mem 16M EDO

P.S. Even worse: after i tried hires the first time, the demos didn't work
right anymore.

I'm having the same problem with crashes, when I contacted Elec Arts
they told me to take the /e out of my mscdex command line, it seemed
to work awhile but then it started crashing again. It's driving me
nuts, I have to reboot at least 4 or 5 times before I get fed up &
quit. Elec Arts is supposed to let me know something else, but it
looks like they put out a buggy program. I had problems with the
demo but figured they would of worked it out. My system never makes
it back to DOS, it just freezes. ( I hate boot disks also). I post
any solutions I find out

You folks aren't alone...I've tried a bunch of different configs., best has
been with a 'bare as possible' config.sys and autoexec.bat, no memory managers
whatsoever, nothing pointing to expanded memory--and it STILL crashes. Very
frustrating when you're in the 'heat of battle' and forget to save....then it
will *invariably* crash!

Great game, but GET THE BUGS OUT and post a patch, willya EA??
