"Weird" indeed but isn't that a good thing? If we want familiarity we
have chess/checkers/tic tac toe to play. Games should bring something
new and unusual to the table.
"Hard" is subjective in this context. It does have multiple
difficulty levels and the option to reveal clues when the player is
too lazy to think.
Since $15 is the full release price, I'd say wait and pick it up later
for a couple of bucks if the video doesn't pique interest. If the
video looks fun to you the game probably will be.
