The other Steam Stuff is pretty boring (and why the heck steam doesn't
sell the Max Payne complete pack in europe for 3,74?).
left4dead 2 while having some nice new features and weapons and
special infected, seems to pale for me in comparison with the
original.
left4dead 2 seems alot more tongue in cheek....alot more arcade in
tone, and the daytime enviroments disarm any feelings of horror.
the new survivors just dont seem to have the appeal the first ones
did, although I think nick and ellis are great and sometimes coach
says some amusing stuff.
but overall, in the first one, I foudn myself coming to the aid of the
bots all the time......yet the new ones I just sort of do my thing and
dont pay attention to them.thats kind of telling.
Is it any good as a SP game? I really am not interested in buying it if
coop is the only way to fully play it. I know it has some SP but that is
just a tacked on part of the game, right?

I guess if action gaming is all you are interested in then that may be
the case but there are plenty of other good games on Steam for sale, plenty.

Why?
There's next to no difference between the two so it's hard to imagine
which one is the better game. L4D2 has new maps and some new weapons
but it is almost identical in every other way to the first game.
My view is that they were both mediocre and severely over priced.

Surprisingly I had my fun in Single Player too. Ok, the Bots are a bit
blunt but a lot more helpful than some Zergling-Players around. I played
a couple of very rare played maps with bots, 90% solo, was still quite
some fun.

You don't play it like "Counterstrike Coop", that is, highly
concentrated, big plans, training for weeks, you just quickstart a
server, play around for some time. People join, people leave, everyone
is shooting like mad, everyone has a great time. It is like Space
Invaders, you don't have a plan except "survive".

Other game types are nice too but I am a lot more selective then. I am
waiting for 2.Jan to buy Witcher (if they don't special deal it then
then never so ᅵ10,19 is fine with me).
Can you imagine that I invested ᅵ30 into steam games over the last week
and got nearly a dozend new games? Special Sale is fine with me.

If you want to try a new kind of MP shooter I read that Shattered
Horizons by Futuremark is supposed to be quite good and is only $4.95
today. At that price I will get my moneys worth just marveling at their
DX10 graphics engine and floating around in space. They promise more
free content too and read there is DLC near ready for release.
