I had a hard time setting up SMTP and wanted to post this somewhere.
The URL is great for the foundation setup however there is one last
thing we had to do to get it going for us anyway.

done everything above. Try looking at this below. I found it on a
website.
The problem could be your mail server. I have seen this problem many
times (mail could be sent from the Iseries but stopped unexpectedly).
The mail server needs to have a MX record (or other name) that allows
the Iseries to relay mail. Your network staff might have removed the
record in the mail server.
