Hi!

I finally get rem33bg to work together with my technics CD-player
I found two functions that isn't buttons for on the CD-player or
on the original remote controller.
I found a SHUFFLE (randon pick track) and a CHECK OUT (play 15sec
of each number) function. Direct chosing of tracks by number is
also posible.
The CD-player apparently uses a chip that is more advanced than
necesary on the cheap model.

By the way my CD-player is a technics SL-PJ25.

I will send the codes to Bjørn Gahm soon, so evrybody I the same
situation can get extra plaesure of their CD's.

Is it common that you can find codes that control functions that
your current remote controller can't handle ?

My old G.E. VCR (now busted) didn't offer direct channel access (IE all
it had was Channel-up Channel-Down) but it did accept direct channel
access from a universal remote we had, we used codes for a higher model
G.E. since it didn't have ours. I eventually took the G.E. remote apart
and found the PC board even had pads for channel buttons, they were just
never installed. Sounds like this kind of thing may be common?

Yes, on my VCR I found out a REPEAT-function (with rem-bg) which is
not documented or in the manual. I think they use the same chips in a
whole series of models.

I think so. I have a Sony VCR I bought two years ago. One of the
features is an indexing function that places index marks on the
tape when you start to record. You can also place and remove them
if you are not happy with the auto placement. Just this year my
friend bought this years model. It doesn't have the place/remove
function anymore, which is annoying because he wanted to index a
bunch of his older tapes. On a hunch, I brought my remote over and
the functions worked fine... there were just no buttons for it on his
VCR remote. We called Sony and they told us they removed the mark/
remove buttons because "They were too confusing for most customers."
I guess the world revolved around the stupid. This really annoyed
my friend because he wanted to index some of his older tapes. I
would guess more VCRs have one or more hidden functions that were
taken away to protect people from themselves. Anyway, cheers. :-)

Our Erres (=Philips) VCR doesn't even has buttons for fast forward and
back with picture and for slow playing and reverse playing. It does
however have quite an extensive set of possibilities for programming
it (weekly, daily, monthly, etc.) which work with only two buttons. If
that's making it easier for people........?
