What do these beeps mean?

hello,

I've got a friend that has an HP Pavilion 412 and everytime she turns
it on it doesn't get through POST and just gives one long beep and 2
short beeps.

I've reseated the RAM (256MB) and even swapped out the RAM from
another simlilar laptop. Unfortunately, HP doesn't even suppor this
system anymore, but she desparetly needs this system since she can't
afford to buy another one.

Anyone give any hints as to what those beeps mean?

You may need a more complete model number to find much
information. There are at least 6 models that fit what you've
